hmm alright then, I'll give it another go! If I never spent the time on Border Down or Psyvariar 2 I never would have gotten in to them so its only fair I spend some more time on FS

Well said. That's great that you give the game a second look. When I first got my copy from NG Dev in 12/31/10 I immediately decided to play in "Maniac" mode diffculty and learn to master it. I'm close. The game is indeed a task in Maniac and Omake mode but they are managible. I'm trying to 1CC the game as well as advance my rank in the worldwide leaderboards (I currently hold the 5th highest score on the world... would like to reach for top 3)

Oh you weren't aware? It's easily one of the more unique aspects of the game and major reason I keep goin back to the game in full swing. The game will provide a code, you plug in that code on the official website. It's goodtimes indeed.

Re: Favorite Shmups list! (In order!!)
I consider Ikaruga a puzzle game. I think it is one of the best games ever created but it doesn't appear in my Dreamcast shmup hitlist.
1. STURMWIND
2. Under Defeat
3. Zero Gunner 2
4. Shikigami no shiro 2
5. Psyvariar 2
I'm having an eye on Chaosfield, Trizeal, Trigger Heart Exelica and Giga Wing 2. I don't know/own those yet. Any recommendations?
My favorite shmup on all systems literally changes every week. Some of my favorites are Gunhed, Battle Garegga, Musha Aleste and Thunderforce III.

Well I personally felt that Border Down played pretty similarly to Thunderforce 3 so if you haven't checked that one out definitely do so! Regarding the others on your list, I didn't care for Chaos Field at all and I thought Giga Wing 2 was absolutely abysmal but a lot of people really like them so if you find a good deal give them a shot! Trizeal is one of my favorite DC games and made it to my top 5, Triggerheart would probably be ranked at about 8 but its still a very good game and has a similar flare to Skigami no Shiro 2

Gosh, I'm realising there are some great games I've yet to acquire on Dreamcast. More money !! lol
Mmmm....I've noticed nobody has put Bangai-O, Pink Bullets, Radirgy or Gunbird on their lists ? Are they that bad or have people just forgotten about them ?

Not at all. They are solid titles in their own right. I just got Gunbird2 recently and am enjoying it very much. Bangai-O is great but its not compatible with VGA at all. I haven't tried the Pink Bullets update but the original release is terribly difficult due to hard to see bullets. The only game I don't like very much is Radirgy... Karous is a better title IMO.

I always wanted to buy Radirgy but was put off by the reviews. It sure did look different back then - like a shmup version of JSR.........although when I saw it recently it seemed more like a ten-a-penny Flash game
Funny how your perceptions change over time lol

I really really like Bangai-O but the control scheme is god awful. I hate to say it but the game would be better on the 360 (if its on arcade, I don't play that garbage console)
