Re: Resurrecting Online Dreamcast Games
there was some stuff being done, i can't speak to the extent of it because i do not know much myself and the people doing the work wouldn't like to get anyone's hopes up just in case nothing comes of it.

Yeah. I know of some people that were working on this for the last couple years. However, They threw in the towel last winter.

Well, SEGA West (EU/NA) is barely hanging in there. I wouldn't expect much help or communication from them for the months or possibly years to come.

I would be more inclined to think that anyone in the know, possessing the relevant information (logs, code), would be more likely to reach out to us being a non-employee as opposed to an active employee. Who knows, the fall of sega west could yield good fruitwip3outguy7 wrote:Well, SEGA West (EU/NA) is barely hanging in there. However, I think the likelihood of anyone reaching out with the needed information to be slim to none.

Re: Resurrecting Online Dreamcast Games
To do that it requires....
1: Extensive knowledge about socket programming and networks.
2: Lots of time
3: Dedication ( Probably the most important one )
Anyone with all the three above wants to join?
I don't want people who would quit a week after starting a project.

Very true. Through, I doubt anyone with the knowledge and access from the old Seganet days is still around in Western side of the organization, LOL.everynewday84 wrote:I would be more inclined to think that anyone in the know, possessing the relevant information (logs, code), would be more likely to reach out to us being a non-employee as opposed to an active employee. Re: Resurrecting Online Dreamcast Games
Has anyone actually contacted sega about getting the packets information, or the program that was used to write the communication that occurs between servers? I think sega knows we (the dreamcast community) are out there and usually things like software at least are kept on file to some extent, at least I'd surmise. If no one responds to this confirming ill have to write sega a letter quite soon

Re: Resurrecting Online Dreamcast Games
the trouble with this is that I suspect that with all the changes sega has been through, that no one at the company currently has any idea where to even start with this.
My guess is that most of the sega dev kits and storage hardware have long since been recycled...
But you can always try. I'd be pretty stoked if I could finally get to try NFl 2K online

I'd kill for SFIIX, Vampire Chronicles, Jojo, Puzzle Fighter, etc to get back online.
