Re: Elysian Shadows
Looks a bit more like an RPG to me than something Zelda inspired.
Hm, what's all this about a toolkit? Interesting. I wonder if it will take off. It could be a boon to the indie scene, if it works well.

Re: Elysian Shadows
I am the lead programmer of the Elysian Shadows project. It is a pleasure to meet you guys and read all about your doubts, criticisms, and condescension.

If even a fraction of them donated, we would be quite successful, and given our project's publicity, I don't think this is too far off (or worthy of your laughing).
And how exactly are you judging our organization?
Anyway, it's a pleasure to meet all two of you guys who show any degree of support. I grew up in the Dreamcast scene, and began developing for the console in 2004. I definitely miss the days when projects like ours were met with enthusiasm rather than condescension from the scene. But whatever, we will take what we get and plan to prove the rest of you assholes wrong.
Actually, it's a Final Fantasy-esque RPG. And I don't know what's so funny, considering that Facebook poll wound up with nearly 50 people committing to give money already. We also have a rather large Youtube following of over 6k subscribers for our development video blog here:mazonemayu wrote:these guys have been making an engine for a zelda type game

Oh right! Because the fact that we've been working on the game for awhile means that we're certainly doomed to fail. It can't possibly mean that we're committed to delivering a quality product or have stuck around for so long because we are committed to releasing our game? You try developing a multiplatform 2D SDK (engine and toolkit) along with a game WHILE getting your computer engineering degree and beginning your career.dark wrote:Haven't these guys been "working" on this project for a couple of years? I'm sure they mean well, but they don't come off as a well organized or disciplined development team and I don't really have faith that they would finish the project in the next 12-24 months. That's just me though.
And how exactly are you judging our organization?
Yeah, I must admit that our new website is pretty crappy as far as the content goes. Our web developer quit to go back to school before really finishing the majority of the content. We are developing an engine, a toolkit, and a game. We are currently wrapping up the Tools development and are looking to soon begin recruiting artists for the game itself. You can get a lot more information by watching some of our development videos. I apologize for the state of the site, we are working on it.VasiliyRS wrote:There is lack of information about their toolkit, what are they doing - a game, an engine or all together, what license it will be released under and what will be released etc. I think we should interview them.
I think it's adorable that you never bothered looking into our project enough to know that it's not just for Dreamcast before making a comment like that. The engine currently runs on Dreamcast, PSP, iOS (iPhone + iPad), Windows, OSX, and Linux. And please do call that number, it's a phone sex hotline.everynewday84 wrote:I think it's cute how they put a phone number to contact them in the contact section of the site...

Re: Elysian Shadows
Thanks. It's a pleasure to meet you guys.
I will try to post here whenever we have a major video update/article posted on the site. We have decided to drastically change our development paradigm in favor of a much more open approach. Much of the Tools (and even game) will be developed via blogs on the site where you guys can directly comment and contribute. This is like a complete 180 from our old development model, and we're all really excited to try out this new direction.

Oh, but I did notice that. Doesn't change anything. And, putting a number to phone sex up on a video game site that young children look at... Not cool. Probably even illegal.I think it's adorable that you never bothered looking into our project enough to know that it's not just for Dreamcast before making a comment like that. Uh, actually it changes your entire insult. It makes you look misinformed. Apparently you weren't misinformed, though. You're just a douche.everynewday84 wrote:Oh, but I did notice that. And a phone sex hotline number ILLEGAL? REALLY? By all means, turn me in. I admit guilt right here and now. Take me away.
I'm sure all of the children WITH CREDIT CARD NUMBERS for those hotlines are going to be forever corrupted.
