Well done! I can see why the steering wheel would be preferable, what with this game's extremely touchy control. I'd probably be using one if I had one, except for the fact that I actually learned to play this game with the pad under default sensitivity. It requires one hell of a lot of precision with the joystick.

I'm using a regular controller too. For some reason, I never looked to get a wheel. :|
So I think I have the sensitivity where I like it... Now I just need to remember how to play the game correctly again... ;) 46.484

Here's my latest entry, a time of 00' 48" 125. I got a video of of it this time. As you can see, I hit the wall on the same turn every time.

Your problem is that you're not drifting at all. The game is designed around a drifting mechanic, and you'll be able to maintain your speed around corners if you use it. The Grasshopper is too grippy, and is basically for players who don't know how to or don't want to use the drifting mechanic. If you want to drift, change to a harder tire.

There's a couple ways to drift, but as a beginner, you should use both the brake and accelerator simultaneously, which will cause you to lose traction. Also, try the manual transmission. If you drive properly, shifting is only a concern when starting the race. You get extra top speed, so it's worth it.
