I doubt gamepsy would throw the server software out to just anyone. A knowledgeable group requesting for it might have a better chance. Like someone who could continue to host and maintain it... like... dctalk I'm pretty sure onlineconsoles has something in the works regarding a server for this.

Didn't online have a forum post about using a custom irc server to have chat? That might have just been for starlancer.
