Is the Broadband adapter worth it?

Online games, how to get online, and anything involving Dreamcast online can be discussed here.

I was also thinking about doing the whole PC-DC server thing but that seems like it would cost me as much or even more. I just don't know! I would like to get online on my dreamcast again.
Hi MrTechnoSqueek I think making a DreamPi is much better then getting a bba right now. The bba only supports 3 games right now PSO Ver. 1&2, Quake 3, and Toy Racer.
Well I have a BBA and really the only game I play online on my Dreamcast is PSO so until more games are back online I will wait on doing the DreamPi thing.

However Outrigger, Bomberman Online, POD: Speedzone (POD 2 on PC), and Unreal Tournament won't. Those are some games that may have a chance of coming back and are and/were actively being looked into to see if it were possible to do so. However when it came to the Dreamcast having most of their games running on 33k/56k and then a modest handful of games to run on 10-T/100-T BBA when the system was in it's prime, it's good to have the best of both worlds. It's a good thing that his request to buy a BBA went through elsewhere. He should either hold onto it or trade it to someone who would end up needing it more if more people decides to go down the Dreampi route.

The BBA is still very useful. You can run programs/emulators with dcload, backup VMU. And is amazing for Linux/NetBSD on Dreamcast. I've been on and off working on getting a working NFS to have a writable kernel file system and reboot with all my configurations like a PC

So you really get your money's worth with that stuff using BBA. But if you just want to play online and don't care about any of that then DreamPi is the way to go. Unless you want to play Doom (which I'm probably going to figure out and document the proper config to use that soon) or not get destroyed on Quake against others with BBA

Hi,

I got a BBA in a combo (check the recently got for my Dreamcast thread) to see what I got included.

As I don't have DreamPI , PC DC , emulators or any other method to connect to the Dreamcast online via Dial up so the only option I have is BBA and for what I got it was worth it but if your thinking of just getting BBA to play online games there isn't many but for the games that are they are the most popular ones thou.

Quake 3 Arena
PSO v1 & v2
Toy Racer
Doom (woohoo)

If More and more supported BBA games were to come back then it is worth buying for games instead of just homebrew , Dev etc
Online Games I play Most : F355 Challenge | Daytona USA | Alien Front Online | Phantasy Star Online | Quake III Arena | Toy Racer | 4x4 Evo | Planet Ring | ClassiCube | Driving Strikers

I already bought a bba like months ago (if you look at the first page of this thread.) But if no other games are going to be able to use the bba I will probably get the whole dream pi set up sometime in the near future.

Yes :) Dreampi is the best way to go. In fact BBA doesn't work with chu chu rocket.
