Re: Perfecting the Raspberry Pi method?
Here's a little preview video of the Dreampi stuff that I've been working on!
Still working on detecting disconnecting, getting it running as a boot process, and generating a dial tone. I've bought Toy Racer and Quake 3 and I'm determined to get them to work without fiddling!

Re: Perfecting the Raspberry Pi method?
Would there be interest in someone selling line voltage inducers? There not hard to make if you know how to solder. You could probably sell one hand made for like 10-20 bucks. Maybe cheaper if you could get a prefabbed board.

Re: Perfecting the Raspberry Pi method?
I've been contemplating designing a PCB with 2 RJ11 sockets and powered by a micro-usb (need to boost the voltage to ~18V though for PAL).
If someone designs a PCB and uploads it somewhere then people can order from Fritzing or something

Re: Perfecting the Raspberry Pi method?
So, updates:
- Dreampi now reliably connects/disconnects
- Last v1 task is to start on boot then upload the image somewhere
- I've ordered some components to start designing a line voltage inducer PCB powered by microusb
- Next steps are dedicated website with instructions then work on v2 which should include dial tone generation
