OK. I am happy. The skillz adapter works perfectly with my mice, which is understandable considering its comprised of a small box of components rather than being a small dumb pass-through adapter. Skillz for the win.

Glad to hear it! I like mine to, works good and looks cool. What did you do to get it working?

Nothing, just plugged it in. The Skillz was a bit more expensive but it just works with the mice that wouldn't work with the TC5. I wouldn't recommend the TC5.

I know this thread is old, but I'm going to post some information I know about the Total Control 5 adapter and optical mouse compatibility. Finding an optical mouse that works with this thing is hit and miss, but here's what I found after testing about six different mice. I hope others will find this helpful.

*Sorry for people in the distant future where my ebay links are long broken

1. USB to PS2 adapters do not work.
2. PS2 mice are all that seem to work and only about a third of them.

Working
WYSE PS2 mouse MO42KOP, there are a ton of these on ebay. I got mine there for $4.95
https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Wyse-PS2-M ... SwsEpakYfR

A No name PS2 mouse from ebay costing also $4.95, again there are a ton of these on ebay.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Optical-Scroll ... 2749.l2648

Not Working

A PS2 Logitech
A Microsoft Mouse
A dell Mouse
A Micro Innovations Optical Scroll Mouse

yes the ps/2 to usb adapters do work with the total5 but only with basic hid compliant ps/2 mice that just have a usb plug, same as on a pc.

A little tip for using these adapters sometimes the dreamcast fails to detect the device when booting and sometimes you have to restart the dc and try again or start the dc first and plug in after its powered up. Try try again if a device doesn't work the first time don't give up on it lol

I remember I got the adapter years ago and it didn't work with most my devices. years later discovering this problem I found out even my old wireless mice and keyboards that i thought wouldnt work actually all work just fine but sometimes take a few tries =)
