The purpose of port forwarding is to allow inbound connections, which shouldn't happen when playing a DC game online, since everyone connects to a central server and not to each other. The only way a firewall would theoretically interfere would be if it blocked outbound connections (which many software firewalls do, but most hardware firewalls do not). Does Toy Racer act strangely and allow direct connections between clients? The fact that you must enter the IP address of the server would suggest that it does not.

I personally didn't need to set up port forwarding for Toy Racer but Bob Dobbs was having a problem connecting and setting up port forwarding for port 2048 fixed the issue. The only Dreamcast game I know of that seems to require it for everyone is Starlancer.

Thats true. btw i know a guy playing it with BBA and had no any issue. Maybe the specified router models have built in firewall that blocks some kind of traffic.
I had an issue with demul when got disconnect right after starting a race. That was because i shared the main internet connection with the demul's virtual one. After i re-configured it to bridged connection all gone well now i can play the game :)

Alright, I'm trying to set up the Windows version of the server software and I need some people to test it. Could someone try and connect to 71.192.103.150 port 2048 and let me know the result? Thanks!
