I'd also be interested in funding for recovery of the backup drive, provided they still have it of course. I really would like to relive UT online again :)

Its right around the corner, both me and Shuouma working on it - dont worry, it'll be there. He has a Katana Devkit too, so testing is alot easier now.

Anyway, GUYS, TIME TO GATHER UP:

I actually contacted the lead developer of Unreal Tournament again, informing him that there must be around 100 people willing to pay for the repair of his harddisk.

Here is what he replied, almost straight away:
Can you find someone in the Raleigh, NC (or better Cary, NC) that would be able to handle it?
SO you guys who live or know the geography of USA better than someone from Norway, gather up and find someone, and maybe start a fundraiser of some sort. I actually encourage you guys to actually pay for the repair of his HDD rather than donations to me, which I btw appreciate VERY much, and it is ofcourse something that motivates me to do this kind of free work.

Thats all. Somebody else take the ball and I'll forward it to him, as you want AFO back, right? ;)

Oh and between all of my emails, a big shoutout to Wombat who donated a rather big sum to me the other day. I think you deserve some kind of special treatment since the amount was alot bigger than the average - just have to figure out what should be your special treatment :)

And that also includes everyone else from the start of the project who have believed in what I/we (now me and Shuouma) have done and will very soon be atleast finished with so we can start testing, so thank you all - I wish I had the time to actually thank you all by names at the moment, but I dont, right now atleast. I could make a thread later on, but you know who you are.

Lets make it a surprise for now :)

I'm actually following up on a couple leads in regards to UT so it might be best to hold off on the fundraiser for now. I was able to contact a former SegaNet server admin who said he might possibly have the UT server software. He's going to have a look through his old files and get back to me. I'm trying to contact a couple other possible leads as well. Stay tuned...

Might be worth asking sega themselves as they might be into this kind of thing now, will have to ask on the next sega central.

I doubt it, as I have tried with both letters and emails to all divisions of Sega - London, US and JP-executives by mail.

But ofcourse, they may easily have changed their mind but seeing as I have gotten replied from almost everyone which blames licensing issues, I have strong doubts about this. But PCs leads from a SegaNet admin is cool - I thought I had asked every guy named in every game on the console but obviously not 100% of them.

I HAVE gotten much out of them though, but nothing concrete as in pieces of software other than once (which was a insanely lucky one as it uses KAGE but I did not recieve the sources for the servers but rather the Army vs Aliens ones which proved to be entirely different).

Lead developer of UTDC doubted (and promised to ask everyone on the team which all of them pointed me to him, and he told me the only chance was the HDD, but if we can get it for free, that would ofcourse be a much better deal for everyone except the developer of UTDC.

If he maybe has that - what other stuff may he have? Im thinking if he was in charge of the status over the servers, I doubt they only managed one game each? In that case you have a very good lead given he has anything of the kind, but if he has, be sure to ask for everything released on the console in regards to both sources, betas and servers. :D

Yup, I sent him a list of games that are currently offline and requested any information that might help us revive those games. He knows he saved the Quake server software which he actually released online after the servers first went down. He mentioned helping a group of people with hosting a Quake server back in the day. Possibly DC-Talk or OC?
