According to DCEmulation's news update, it is actually lower res than 1.5. Odd decision.

Due to performance issues (lack of ram) they had to lower the resolution (240p instead of 480p).

Still, this game has a new soundtrack, a new level, a different gameplay mechanism and a new ship (= different difficulty level). Better gfx but in a lower resolution.

This is obvious they stumbled into many issues in the development process and couldn't backpedal. Sad ! And the fact it's a multiplatform title probably made it even more difficult to optimize it for the DC. Still looking forward to their next title though !!!

I'll use it with a "scanliner" (check "Hanzo"), it should look OK.....

That's exactly the feeling I got when reading the previous post.

@krssn : I wonder why you say that ? My post makes it clear it's almost the same game, at a lower resolution. I'm quite saddened by this situation (well, there are more serious problems than this but also because the guy's (&friends) other projects are promising.

I read 2 reviews on French website. 6 out of 10 (for people not owning Dux -- 2.5/10 otherwise) and 14 out of 20 on another one (pretty strange as the same guy gave the same rating to Dux and Dux 1.5). He probably gave the rating independantly from the others.

The point made in the reviews is that the gameplay is more balanced. The easy mode is less easy than Dux 1.5 which is too easy ; the hard mode is less hard than Dux 1.0 which is too hard. That obviously doesn't justify a new release

but on imdb it's usually the other way round; when a movie gets rated 5/10 or less, it's usually great

Are you sure you played version 1.0 ? Each review I read reported an extreme difficulty. On the other hand, version 1.5 is said to be extremely easy.

I played neither, but had preordered Redux + Dux 1.5...

I bought DUX when it came out & do NOT own 1.5 (yet),

I still play it once every 4 months or so & I can still finish it in one try, so yes, its very easy.
