Cool I wasn’t sure if they both worked online again, I know it doesn’t matter really since disc 1 is an earlier version of the same game I just thought it was odd capcom had online play for disc 1 at all, can disc 1 play online with disc 2?

I think it’s only disc1 vs disc1 and disc2 vs disc2

That's right, you need to choose normal or DX when selecting your matchups. In which case, just use Disc 2 because of the DX options.
