Well you just need a wget command and know how to run a shell script to download a mirrorable backup of the site if you want to help restore them all. It's really time consuming so if i start working on dreampipe anymore i do other things

What about this proposal, since basically id be simply fixing the archived sites. For each one I finish I could simply zip it up and email it to you. It would just be a matter of changing the links on your end and of course publishing my sites. Of course I could download the entire too.

Just to make sure we're on the same page, Im for example wanting to basically to restore/update sites like the chu chu rocket, shenmue passport, street fighter and all other sites I can. I know some of the archived versions are mostly complete but I could add more content to them/ update them. Passport will be the most challenging but I think we could restore it.

Again if you're willing to put in the time to restore everything, I'll put it up on a subdomain of dreampipe and give you file transfer access so you can further update and maintain it. Then work on getting the redirection working

Which one do you want to start with?

I'm going to start with something easy and work my way up, so Chu Chu Rocket first. Like to add all the DLC, A new rankings section, update the text/screen shots in a few areas, restore anything missing. Maybe at the end of the year package up all our user created puzzles into a puzzle pack.

Though i will update it away from the old PlanetWeb design over time. Now you can boot up your browser, and check the news in the scene, and alot more

Features:

-Extensive VMU save library
-Functioning SFD video portal
Hey everyone, I am just getting back in to Dreamcast web development and I am having a blast. I am creating a website to accompany the rescent DCPlaya release. The goal of the website is to give people a place to learn more about DCPlaya, a quick start guide, A video channel guide for the channels within DCPlaya, streaming mp3, midi ect.

So things are coming along great! But now i would like to host some .sfd files so people can watch video clips right on the website. I see this is a thing that has been done in the past! Any help would be greatly appriciated. I have 2 .sfd clips that were sent to me, but when you simply link to them, Planet Web says it is unable to load them.

Any help or tips would be greatly appriciated! Thanks

On DreamPassport, the following can be used to play video, where DPWWW is a folder in the root of the GD-ROM.

<a href="x-avefront://---.dream/proc/play/mpeg/dpwww/TRAILER.SFD"><img border="0" src="TRAILER1.GIF"></a>

According to the table here (https://web.archive.org/web/20100315053 ... /browsers/), early versions of PlanetWeb and DreamKey don't support SFD playback.

Please refer to that link to see other special URL formats, and which browsers support them.

Note that I've also archived this page here (http://ubik.mywire.org/dc_browser_info.html) just in case the Archive ever goes away for good!

Thank you so much for the link, lots of great info there! And thanks for backing it up too. I will definitely also be trying out the VMU commands :)

- I have been testing the .sfd's on PlanetWeb 3.0, but still no luck loading them. I found these special url attributes for multimedia playback as well, but they are also trying to load from gdrom:
Multi-Media Playback (append path to file being played at the end):
x-avefront://---.dream/proc/play/mpeg/
x-avefront://---.dream/proc/play/adx
- I'm thinking it could be the .sfd files as well if they weren't converted properly

- check out this old YouTube video of loading sfd's:
https://youtu.be/pfh17rpAvVI?si=f024LJ5xwimzAb_9

- Do you know anywhere I could find these old sfd's? Or other ones?

Heh that is my old video showing an SFD playing from the official planetweb website. It took 15 minutes to download a 10 second video on dialup with no sound!

I KNEW I SAW YOUR NAME SOMEWHERE BEFORE lol so cool you got to experience this when it was working. Does anyone have those sfd files downloaded?

I hope i am able to recreate that video experience some day!
