Agreed! It's a near perfect match. My only nitpick would be that the angle of the text for "SEGAGAGA" appears to be slightly different than the original. I'm looking at it with a really critical eye, though.
Keep up the good work! Love to see the progress.

I'll take a look, I tried to match the angle of the "セ" but I think visually the "A" has a naturally different angle than the "ガ " on the other side which could be tough. Thank you for the feedback!

feels like the SEGAGAGA is tilting forward but I know it's not and it's just cos of the SGGG behind it.
think the base of the SEGAGAGA just needs widened a bit.

Re: New SEGAGAGA translation project in the works!
Thanks all for the feedback! I think this version is better...there's now no Z-axis tilt, just some Y-axis tilt that matches the original logo. And height and width of "SEGAGAGA" also matches the OG.

Just Photoshop. I save the source files as .PSD and then save a copy as .PNG so that Flycast can pick them up. For real hardware, they will need to get into .pvr format, I believe.

I can extract the PVRs from the game, but I'm trying to convert them to usable files and then back to PVR. Anyone know a good program to do that with?
Trying to change_NEGO.MRG_1.pvr to English. It should Sale! (from Price reduction in Japanese)

Nice! That one looks tricky with metallic gradient.

I haven't tried it yet but I think the official tool from Imagination is PVRTexTool.
BTW I've examined all .MRGs that contain textures in the game files and noted which ones need translations/redraws in the Google Sheet

Re: New SEGAGAGA translation project in the works!
There are lazier things you could do. For my quick and dirty Under Defeat translation, I used Ghidra to decompile the decompression code, decompressed the files with that, and made my changes. Instead of decompressing the modifications, I packed uncompressed data in the compression format.megavolt85 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 3:06 pm yes we still need to convert them to PVR, but the compression itself in MRG files can be replaced with another one.
currently a type of LZSS is used, but we can use only one type of compression for all MRGs, this is not a problem
Basically, the UD compression had two times of "commands", either write uncompressed data from the source to the destination, or reuse existing data from the destination (I think this is LZSS?). I didn't bother to try to make use of the reuse data command, I just packaged everything a bunch of write uncompessed data commands.
This made the files larger, and increased load times, but I figured a poor but working translation was better than not finishing in the time I had available, and never coming back to it.
