Why write a bootloader to run an image from disk? This is silly, disks can be booted without DreamShell

If the disc was available. In this case, Faster Than Speed CDI does not exist.

Yes, I know about the slowness - it was simply a proof of concept build - a test to see what is possible, not practical.

In case someone wants to try to record the CDs on disk, here I leave my tests with all the games converted until today.

dolphin blue: playable with loading time at the beginning of each mission, small charges between each stage.

kof neowave - 100% playable.

knights of valor: 100% playable

NGBC: very slow at the beginning, you have to wait a little and after giving start, wait for it to load the selection of characters, there it runs well, the fight also plays well but the music is cut, every fight is fully playable if you support those problems (it's better than nothing).

faster than speed: playable.

samurai s. 6, kof xi, metal slug 6 - all playable

I hope someone release more convert games, if it were possible I would like:
the rumble fish 1, 2
demolish fist
kenju
forze five
I have a lot of cd-r to try

True but the fighting games seem to work perfectly on cdr. Its a shame kenju or force five never got converted to cdi.

Everything thing else i agree with you, you need the serial adapter.

Games that load assets in "stages" (fighters), seem to do OK. Games that constantly access assets (run'n gun) struggle - with Metal Slug 6 being the worse. Atomiswave was solid-state cartridge based, so the programmers did not have to worry about optical disk delay or a slow bus speed.

Yeah i get that but thats why i said kenju and force five. I understand games that stream on the fly are no good because of seek times but those two games are worth the conversion since are most likely to work on cdr specifically. But it what it is.
