Not a strong lead, but I'm cross-referencing the game lists for Sony's PocketStation as I suspect there may be some overlap. Capcom seems to be a strong supporter there, too.
Confirmed overlap with both having minigames:
- All Japan Pro Wres (PS) / All Japan Pro Wres 2 (DC)
- Poke-Kano Yumi
- Pop'n Music 2/3/4
- World Neverland 2
Need to investigate more:
- Dance Dance Revolution titles
- Fire Pro Wrestling D (Fire Pro Wres G has PocketStation software)
- Grandia II (Grandia I PS by GameArts has PocketStation software)
- JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
- Love Hina titles (different from PS1 titles)
- Justice Gakuen (rival schools 2) --- (note: Shiritsu Justice Gakuen: Nekketsu Seisyun Nikki 2 is the PS title, and not Rival Schools 2)
- Street Fighter Alpha 3 (Zero 3)
- Super Robot Wars Alpha
At a glance, I can't find anything in the manuals about VM minigames for
DDR 2nd,
DDR 3rd,
Fire Pro Wrestling D,
Grandia II,
Love Hina ~Smile Again~, or
Super Robot Wars Alpha.
That leaves JoJo's BA, Rival Schools 2, and SF Zero 3. The DC and arcade community plays these Capcom titles non-stop, I feel like they would be well known if they had a minigame.
As always, we are seeking the downloads for Shenmue Goodies animations, the
Sega Cyber Coupon Project, and
Yukyuu Gensoukyoku 3 ~Perpetual Blue~

Not a silly question at all, and you are not the first to ask. It's tucked away

Just had to say thank you for compiling all of this. Definitely not enough elsewhere about this special little gaming component.

Yuukyuu Gensoukyoku 3: Perpetual Blue
悠久幻想曲3 パーペチュアルブルー
10 Character animations wanted. Three leads so far:
- Campaign website - https://web.archive.org/web/20000408040 ... b/cam.html
Mentions 10 types of data for VM and Sony PocketStation. I can't find any mention of the PocketStation data elsewhere on the internet.
- FamitsuDC Visual Memory Data Issue (aka VM Data-shuu) - Mentions 14 character animations and displays 2 screens. It's only briefly described in the minigame section as software that was only available after release. It's lumped in with the SoulCalibur minigame which was released as a "thank you" for 1 million copies sold.

- yukyuugensoukyoku3_ani.jpg (24.23 KiB) Viewed 3620 times

- Preorder gift - to those who preordered the DC or PS game, a gift of a few postcards with a special code to redeem ringtones are included. Also, the green paper details the bonus gift of VM or PocketStation data to those who ask when purchasing at specific stores, including Dengeki-ya. It outlines 10 character animations, same as the campaign website.
The bottom half outlines the ongoing merchandise release schedule on the green sheet. A second "points campaign" promotion was associated with purchasing the game and additional merchandise. To participate, one could mail the proof-of-sale points, and after a certain date, a lottery was held, with the winners receiving a telephone card with character art. Posted below are the preorder postcards, as well as the later visual novels and CDs. The CD data includes PC wallpapers, and some executibles that will not run in win11, even in compatibility mode.
finally, a quick summary of other wanted VM minigame data:
Shenmue goodies: character animations

I'm looking for a VMU game called Pac-It. It was a minigame included in Namco Museum. I downloaded it some time ago. I deleted it but I can't find the game again.
And I'm looking for a Quake III Arena VMU maze game. I don't find it.
