There're other RE games to be played on the DC, keep in mind. Wasn't Tomb Raider supposed to suck, though? I imagine that if you liked CV and tolerated Tomb Raider, there are plenty of 3D games you'd love. Maybe give some of them a try. You might like Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, for instance.

I agree with those sentiments, Alec. Once you make that leap to 3d, a whole new world opens up on the Dreamcast. Soul Reaver is a very good game, especially on DC. There's also Headhunter, Alone In The Dark and Prince Of Persia, to name just a few others. Games like LOL, Rayman 2 are true classics, not forgetting the 'alternative' Sega gems such as JGR and SC5. Plenty, plenty more too !
The Dreamcast Tomb Raider games have this bad reputation, but really they are just hi-res versions of the games on other systems, which were themselves highly rated. I think the games could have been better on DC, with a more modern control system, improved character models etc, but, as it is, they are still decent games providing you like the basic concept to begin with.

Thanks - don't have a VMU as yet, so can't really get into any as there's always an element of setup/tutorial about. Really had a blast with JSR already though

Here are the games I re-bought or games or apps/extras I downloaded or bought after I sold my previous dc and many games years ago. I'll even give short review of games IMO.
13 in 1 Capcom Collection ISO - 10/10
If I only had a dc and this game I'd still be happy ! Super Street Fighter 2 x - JAP Version, Super Street Fighter 2 x - English Translated Version, Marvel vs Capcom 2 - US Version, Marvel vs Capcom 2 - JAP Verson, Street Fighter 3 : Third Strike US Verson, Street Fighter 3 : Third Strike JAP Verson, Capcom vs SNK 2 "Millionaire Fighting", Super Puzzle Fighter 2, Capcom vs SNK Fandisk, Ikaruga, DCLOAD Tool, GameShark, Action Replay all in 1 700 mb cd-r All with a nice menu system and the choice of soundtracks !!!
* Battle Arena Toshinden 2 ISO - 7/10
Very good game. Plays great in B!Beta but not as good as series original.
* Battle Arena Toshinden 4 ISO - 5/10
It's ok. Plays great in B!Beta but the game is cheesy.
* Bleem4AllBeta Boot Disc ISO - 8/10
It doesn't play all psx games, or isn't required to play self boots, but the fact some play perfect and 100 games are playable AND this even exists gives it a high app score.
Capcom 6 Button Controller - 9.9/10
You need this for dc fighting games ! The fact you can't use it for all dc games limits it to perfection.
* DcHacker ISO - 8/10
Good for reading iso bin files, doing other things.
* DcPlaya 2.0 ISO - 9/10
Looks like a copy of dreamshell4
* DcVCD ISO - 9.9/10
Played every vcd I ever tried retail or home made. Looks better than vhs. I used this alot. Great menu screen.
Dead or Alive 2 Retail - 9/10
Yes, it is cheesy but it plays and looks great.
* DreamPics ISO + DcMag Issue 001 - 9/10
Awesome I can view many pictures very well and enjoyed reading free dcmag 1 jpeg mag that came with it.
* DreamShell 4 ISO for dc card reader - ???
I don't understand if I must install exe in dc itself, or just use this as cd-r app, not sure how to use this for now because my sd card reader didn't work so I'll give N/A
* DreamVmuExplorer ISO - ???
Not sure everything that you can do with this ?
F355 ISO - 8/10
Yes, graphics are awesome. Yes, for a first person racer it is very good. Soundtrack is cheesy. Game is hard.
Fighting Vipers 2 ISO - 9/10
Great game overall. It seems a little too easy though.
House of the Dead 2 ISO (Had on retail) - 8/10
Yes, graphics are awesome (but cartoony just like most dc games). Yes, it is a great game but the fact I need a lightgun and a old curved tube tv to enjoy this game better, drops it down a notch. Using the controller is horrible for me in this game.
Jet Grind Radio Retail - 9/10
A beautiful celled graphic, great sounding, fun game.
King of Fighter 2002 80's Remix ISO - 8/10
Damn, the graphics are sort of sub par and the dc controller sucks for this game but the 80's soundtrack is great and snk fighting is fair, overall a solid game though.
MLB 2k2 ISO - 8/10
I just play the homerun derby mode.
NBA 2k2 Retail - 10/10
Let me put it like this, I have nba 2k1 retail and it is collecting dust because this game is perfect.
* NeoGeoNG4All ISO Emu - 9/10
It plays all my fav NG games, the fact this is a great NG emu and I'm playing classic snk NG games on my dc gives it a high score.
NFL 2k2 Retail - 10/10
Let me put it like this, I have nfa 2k retail and it is collecting dust because this game is perfect.
NHL 2k2 Retail - 8/10
It's good. Don't play it much but overall it plays and looks great.
* NintendoDCNES ISO Emu - 10/10
Perfect emu to me. Plays hundreds of classic nes games and has soft reset to play others without turning dc off.
* NintendoDreamSNES ISO Emu - 7/10
This only plays a handful of my fav snes games perfect. Limited rom list. Annoying menu music. Has cool menu pic. It's the only snes I have that works and I enjoy some games on dc so I give it a 7. ZSNES on PC destroys this.
Propellar Arena ISO - 9/10
The fact this game has been posted online and the fact it's a great game gives it a 9. Very fun.
Ready 2 Rumble 2 Retail - 7/10
This game was overhyped to me. Yeah cool graphics, kiddy fighting style, fun, good atmosphere but it's a solid fun game.
Rippin Riders Retail - 5/10
Boring to me.
* SegaMasterSystem ISO Emu - 9/10
A great Master System Emu. I have fun playing many 8-bit Sega classics.
* SegaGenesisSegaGen ISO Emu - 9/10
It would get a perfect score, but the fact you can't scroll faster from the overkill of a thousand games which are mostly nothing more than fair besides the obvious classic game for system and dull looks of emu bring it a notch from perfection.
Sega Smash Pack Vol 1 Retail - 7.5/10
Horrible sound because Emu was rushed. But it looks great and plays smooth with nice responce like Genesis and has a few Genesis classics and pc version of the hit Virtua Cop 2. The rest of dull games like wrestling and bad sound and only 12 games brings this down. But a great cd nonetheless. Homebrew Emu have surpassed this.
Shenmue Retail - 8.5/10
Either the most overhyped dc game ever or the greatest. I like it. It is a little boring. But it has superb graphics, nice response gameplay, good puzzles, etc.
Sonic Adventure 2 Retail - 7.9/10
A fun game, different stories, nice visuals and music but I lose interest as game goes on. You should definitely have this game though. Perhaps the first one was better.
Soul Caliber Retail - 10/10
Great graphics, cool sound, fun gameplay, it was THEE dc app once. If you like 3d fighters, get this.
Street Fighter Alpha 3 Retail - 9/10
Great game. Like it better on Saturn though.
TeeOff Retail - ???
Never played it.
* Tekken 3 BleemPack - 10/10
The dc makes graphics way better, cool music, gameplay intact, overall a classic that you can play on dc.
Tomb Raider Revolutions Retail - 7.5/10
Great graphics, ok voice acting, cool puzzles but kind of slow paced overall.
Tony Hawk 2 Retail - 8.5/10
It is a Tony Hawk game and I'm commenting on this in 2012. It is fun, but was more fun in 2001 during the Hawk boarding on vg phase. A great game though.
Tokyo Racer 2 - 8.5/10
Graphics are incredible, but the gameplay is kind of dull searching and flashing lights to find or respond to racers and you barely get points. But it is a great game overall if you like racers.
Unreal ISO - 9/10
I really enjoy this shooter. Some like Quake III more, some like this more.
* Utopia Boot Disc ISO - 9/10
One of the first apps for dc ever, comes in handy booting non booted ISO and I believe it helps play retail imports but I'm unsure about that.
Virtua Fighter 3 Retail - 9/10
An early but great 3d fighter for dc. Hard but fun, looks and sounds great. I'm glad it is on dc and not on Saturn even though VF2 was incredible.
Virtua Tennis 2k2 Retail - 9/10
The fact Haas is GODLY on here and the higher you get in tourney vs AI it destroys you with moves you really can't pull off while they cheaply drop high tips in bounds but you hit them out of bounds or they always show the replays against you, brings this a notch from perfection. Fun with friends though.
* Web Browser Retail - 9/10
Browse the internet on dc. Works good.
WWF Retail - 5/10
I'm not really into this. Got it for free when I bought Rippin Riders which bored me too. I barely play either.
What other games can you recommend ?
