I've been following the various Sega scenes the past few months (Sega Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast). Since the last NOOBS image releases in Dec. 2020, a few sceners have created some QoL patches for the stock DreamPi v1.7 DLE images. These update and extend their functionality.

Patch features:

1. Dreamcast Now patch for BBA
2. SaturnPi patch (use DreamPi to play Sega Saturn Netlink/XBand games)
3. Convert DreamPi to XBandPi (use alt DreamPi distro for SNES/Genesis XBand internet functionality)

I've had a Sega Saturn with a Netlink adapter setup for a few years, and only just recently picked up a Dreamcast BBA conversion kit and a Genesis XBand modem for my gaming collection.

I'll be updating the DreamPi NOOBS images to a deluxe version with these patches for Christmas. As for patch item #3 above (XBandPi), those will be its own separate distros (XbandPi NOOBS images) since the conversion process destroys all Dreamcast/Saturn networking features. To quote the author of XBandPi about that:

[This XbandPi conversion process currently] is based on the DreamPi software, but if you use it on an existing DreamPi [distro, it] will no longer function for anything other than XBAND. Using a different [distro] lets you switch back and forth. I hope to improve this in the future to support XBAND directly within DreamPi.

The DreamPi NOOBS compatible images have been updated! Newer versions of this image will be called "DreamPi DX" (deluxe) going forward henceforth, and will have some community DreamPi patches pre-installed. This latest release includes patches for better Dreamcast Broadband (BBA) modem support and Sega Saturn Netlink/XBAND modem game support.

The images come in 2 flavors:

• "DreamPi4" for Raspberry Pi 4 and newer
• "DreamPi" for older Raspberry Pi models

Very nice MrTamkis. I just updated to DreamPi 1.9. If you could release a new update My 1.7 old set up doesn't seem to update its self.

Just noticed about the v1.9 DLE update today. Will be updating the images and rolling out new releases during this month of April.

Should be an early June release, am working on it this Memorial Day holiday weekend to hopefully wrapup. Got busy.

Have been having some trouble updating the slides_vga/marketing.tar installation slideshows due to > 26 slide images (image files I believe normally named A-Z), and getting the OSes to show when installing locally. Some of the required PINN JSON file metadata fields have changed (os.json and partitions.json), so trying to get those updated correctly too.

I may end up releasing a beta without the slideshows for now and having to submit an enhancement ticket to the PINN developer to support more slides to fix.
