Yeah, nevermind, I didn't notice you posted the component list in the 1st page and that yours wasn't PAL, doh!
So you're applying at least 11V to the telephone line instead of the strandard 9V?
I bought 9,1V 1,3W zener diodes as I'll try a different approach. I'll try to build a LVI with 9V and 18V switch, as I have both NTSC and PAL modems.

9 volts is the minimum voltage at which the NTSC modem works stably
18 volts is the minimum voltage at which the PAL modem works stably
but despite this, the voltage in a real telephone line is 48 volts
you can safely use LVI at 18 volts for all modems

I've seen a bunch of LVIs with a 9V and 18V switch, but from your words I see there's no need for that. Thanks!

Anyone get any further with this as it seems like the kind of project that could really take off.
Esp a custom PCB with headers for a Pico W and it solely ran off wifi. thus reducing the need for a LVI.
