Hi. I've been using the .cdi version of this game because for some reason, the .gdi version doesn't work for me on FlyCast (the unpatched game does, but the patched one just goes to the dreamcast main menu).
I think there's an issue with this .cdi file, though. Whenever I boot it, the game loads properly, but everything is in Japanese. This issue didn't exist for me on the 1.0 version, just the 1.1 version. Could you double-check to see whether there are any issues with the .cdi file on your end?
I made a mistake, sorry. I have just replaced the CDI with the correct version.
Also, I was able to reproduce your issue with the GDI.
Streeker, you did not properly set region-free when using Universal Dreamcast Patch Builder to create your DCP patch file. The IP.BIN included in the DCP sets the region flags to JUE (which I'm guessing you did manually), but it does not have the region text strings patched for all three (thus causing breakage on many emulators, as well as the USB-GDROM ODE). The patching of the region flag and region strings takes place automatically when you choose region-free setting in Patch Builder.
jensham23, you can fix the GDI by downloading this program and dragging the .gdi file onto the exe:

Version 1.1 of the patch is out!
Get it
HERE.
Please apply the patch to an unmodified GDI.
Changes in this new version:
- fixed two minor text errors on the character profiles
- fixed a pixel shift on the start screen, that has been there in the retail version
- some cosmetic touch-ups here and there
This should be the final version. Hopefully
@ateam and
@RazorX
Please remove or update your download offers!
sorry i didn't see there was an update, done

Sorry for the late reply. I have been offline for a week...
That's interesting. Indeed, I haven't checked the additional patching options when building the DCP. I have been using IPBIN4WIN all along for setting the JUE flags within the IP.BIN. Never had an issue with regions afterwards on USB-GDROM. On Flycast though... yeah, that alone didn't do the trick. Sorry for that. I have just fixed and replaced the DCP - it works on Flycast now, too.
Are these the entries within the IP.BIN responsible for having it region-free on emulators?

Again, I have never heard/read, that these have to be hacked for games to be 100% region-free on all devices. But yeah, I guess, I've learned something today
.

I wouldn't say "on emulators". Instead, it was actually a requirement that both the region flags and text strings matched. Some devices ignore this, but it's technically out of spec to have this mismatch.
Check here for some more details:

In the future, simply use my Patch Builder to select region-free so that you know it's 100% correct
