New VM2 firmware has been released, with a few internal improvements, fixed Gauntlent Legends for GameID and a new feature requested for multiple .VMUs per game folder support.
1.5.0 ~ 1.5.1

Upon auto-detection the VM2 was always loading the default GAME.VMU (per game folder). Now, the VM2 will auto-load the last VMU file used.
So, the user can manually create/select multiple VMU files per game folder, and the last used one will become the default to load next time.
It’s great to hear about Chris’s new VM2 prototype! I think this project has a lot of potential, especially with features like higher-resolution LCDs, USB charging, and the ability to store so many mini-games The detailed Q&A section was helpful, especially the clarification about the custom-designed connectors and shells. I’m looking forward to seeing how this develops.

Both VM2 firmware and the GUI have to be updated.
Thanks to RazorX for the feedback and beta testing.
To any other user that was experiencing the same issue (with the GUI failing to transfer files from uSD to PC), please let me know if this workaround works for you.

i know it would be a bit more involved but is there anyway you could have it to where i can for example have a GAMES folder on the root of the sd card filled with vmu games (ideally vmi and vms files but vmu images is fine too) and when i press the mode button to go down to the game icon, instead of it loading up the vmu game stored on the currently mounted vmu it will bring up a list of all the ones in the GAMES folder (ideally minus the extension) and upon clicking one of those it will automatically mount it and run the game so it's a bit more seamless like a little gaming device would be.
i think this would really make the whole process feel much better and would cut out a little bit of the manual process thanks.

It might be simpler for us to repackage Streeker's VMU Archive as virtual VMs and have that be a "MINIGAME" folder. I agree this probably needs to happen so people can more easily enjoy the minigames in standalone mode.
My concern with your proposal is many of these minigames interact with their respective games and should reside with their companion gamesaves. This proposal feels like a sort of shortcut or hyperlink. I wonder if the VM2 hardware is capable.

this is exactly what i basically proposed above.

i am aware of that but i'm mainly talking games, as for interacting with games that won't happen if you're using a standalone image, if you want it to be the case you need to add that specific minigame and/or tool to the same vmu image as the game itself uses.
What you guys described could be further simplified into a FAVORITES or RECENT list, right?
So, for example:
1. FAVORITES : the VM2 could allow you to create a favorites list of existing .VMU files on the SD.
Then, you could bring-up this favorites list (using a button combination or something) and select a .VMU file regardless its location to the SD. For easier management, this list could be created/edited through the GUI..
2. RECENT : The VM2 could automatically (and seamlessly) store a list of the last files you used (with a maximum, let's say 10 files).
Then, same way, using a combination or something, you could bring-up this list and select a file.
