Ok the DX-M300 has conexant HSF drivers, which do not have voice support so they do not work. However, the seller I purchased it from on ebay is allowing me to trade it for a Zoom Model 3095 which has linux drivers from the manufacturer and is reported to work well. I'm running dual boot xp/ubuntu, so hopefully this works when it gets here.

Built a line voltage inducer. I assume it's working. But I still have the same problem. I'm using ubuntu 9.10.

I'm a bit confused with options.(interface) or options.ttyACM0 in my case. is the first IP the local IP of my linux box?

maybe I can find a modem that doesn't require the voltage and test that

Code: Select all

HAHA SHE WORKS!

I had to redo my line voltage inducer and add a fresh battery...heh

just need to look into port mapping for some stability and we are SET!

thanks for the great guide ryochan!

I was just about to say getting the revision B modem might be easier. But, congrats on getting the simulator to work.

Hope all goes well on setting this up. Keep us updated.

revision B requires the voltage I believe.

I've been testing with different distros lately. Port mapping seems to be the issue.

though sometimes if I connect a couple times things will be very smooth and I'll have a good run in pso with someone.

this is correct, if you don't want to use a voltage inducer you will need a revision A modem.

I should also note.

I've ran into problems that seem to be around port mapping. As in I haven't done ANY port mapping.

This results in freezing at various moments like say the first hexagons or the ship list. But for some reason, using ubuntu 8.10 with the firewall shut off seems to solve this problem. Though once in a while I WILL get a freeze or really slow loading.

How do we know if our modem is Linux compatible?

Mine is a Zoom 3030 PCI Internal Modem, but it has the conexant chipset, so it should work.
