Hi Derek,

On my console, the English patched version of Cool Cool Toon runs in 50hz, which obviously breaks the music and timings completely. I tested the game using the direct download link and also by patching the original NTSC-J version myself, it was the same issue both times.

I have a PAL console with clone GDEMU.

The non-patched version of the game runs at 60hz with no issues.

Interesting. There's literally nothing I changed that would affect 50/60hz, so I'm confused as to why this is happening. If any other PAL console users can chime in, I'd appreciate it.

EDIT: I sent you a DM, LeSpank.

EDIT 2: What kind of cable are you using? SCART, composite, VGA, component?

EDIT 3: I found out they're using SCART. Had a friend test on PAL console with VGA, didn't occur. Waiting on another friend to test over SCART. Will try to address in patch update if necessary.

EDIT 4: Okay, have had SCART PAL users confirm. Interesting issue! I will try to fix and release update. For now, ODE users might have luck with this version of the patch (GDIs only)...

if anyone has a gdemu and for fun wants to have a cool cool toon theme you now can, i have added two themes i made to my gdmenu theme manager app

here is a preview of both, just bare in mind these are low quality previews and the actual themes should look perfect.

PAL console owners using SCART, I have verified the 50hz issue. It's real, sadly...

I'm trying to work on a patch update, but I don't have a PAL console on which to test. Below is a test CDI and GDI that I'd appreciate any PAL+SCART users giving a try and reporting back.

Please note that this game is apparently broken in 50hz mode (duh), so if you actually have a 50hz display, there's nothing I can do for you. However, if you're using a SCART cable along with a scaler (e.g., OSSC, RetroTink 5X), whatever fix I eventually develop will have you covered.
