So you didn’t play consoles before the DC came along then?

No i really did not i was on old computers like the c64 and amiga where i learned to hate the flicker lol..
Also one of the things i first upgrade on every emulator i work on is to force 480p 640x480 on Dreamcast hehe..
Because i can take what every crap res it has and force to 480p vga any system of the past and fix that problem..
Well, you have a problem that no normal human has, and have found a solution to is, it doesn’t get more subjective than that LoL
Hell, I spend most of my free time in a completely darkened room, folks think I’m insane too, but it works for me. I have tourette and when shrouded in darkness there’s less stimuli from outside which puts my mind at rest (to a certain degree), I wouldn’t expect others to understand my weird shit either

Heheh you found me out this is true i cant even go to target there lighting system flickers so bad i have to run out lol..
Maybe rand did as well because that was the whole point of bleemcast and bleem lol

Gabbyjay wrote:Well about the comparison-video for the Dreamcast from above, to be fair, the vertical blurring WAS present even on a CRT. But I don't recall it that pronounced as it is in that video. Maybe it's just my memory or something went a bit wrong here, so I would be glad if you did some comparison shots.
Here you go, did a quick run of Musapey's Choco Marker because of the bright colours which lets you see everything that happens on screen pretty clear. I can also do a darker game later if you want.
Keep in mind though that this vid is by no means perfect coz it is damn hard to film off a crt and the image on the tv is always better/sharper than what you get on the actual footage.

Yeah and also, most of us will see the video through an LCD or similar again, so...
Guess the only way to really (!) compare the two is to put both displays side by side.

You can’t really go wrong with either imho. One is a bit better than the other, but the difference isn’t that big, say compared to composite or rf

.
As I said it’s a bit of a trade off between a slightly better image or a bigger screen. I guess what it really comes down to is: are you a desk or couch gamer

Or, as in my case, no gamer at all (but only talking about it for unknown reasons). : D

I am considering getting an HDTV CRT that support 480p input for my component cables but I heard HDTV CRTs don't look as good as SDTV CRTs for older consoles like Genesis and SNES I believe its a Sony KV32HS20 Trinitron 32. not sure if that investment would be worth it. I have been using OSSC + Mclassic on my Flatscreen downstairs and dreamcast games look great with passthrough scanline multiplication mode 6% s 3d games 12% 2d games.

You read a lot of stuff online about hd crts & lag because they do all kinds of digital processing, I’ve never used one, but it may be worth reading up upon before you buy.
