i know one of you know the video im looking for.
You referring to Naoya Tsurumi SEGA's Global Marketing Officer. He's fleunt in english.

Tsurumi was asked by Gamespot Australia in October 2009 if SEGA had any plans to reenter the console business, he tried to dodge the question, but there's a 3 second delay in which he anwsers "No." Very calmly.
That 3 seconds was how long it took "is this guy serious?" to run through his mind.

Incorrect. The interviewer was female.

he said (today i have to say no). he didn't point blank say no in general and even though if he had no plans and didn't care to make a console why would he try to dodge it.

He was dodging the question because the anwser was obviously more complicated then intially thought.

I have to say otherwise in regards to sammy having a stake in sega's business descisions...the fact is when they own sega they can pretty much do what they want with sega and their ip hence the slot machines using sega charcters...a lot of the old sega developers probanly weren't too happy with this being the extent of their gaming exposure as opposed to actual console work...in fact sega is more of a oublisher than anactual developmemt team...they jus publish what the devs make after they aquire rights and task the devs with making the game...sega is pretty much hands off as far as development goes...

The 3 seconds was how long it took for "is this lady serious?" to run through his mind.

CruSega wrote:I remember the Bandai-Sega rumor back when Tomagotchis were selling like hotcakes, I so wanted that merger. The problem with Sammy is they have almost nothing to do with gaming. American Sammy released a few mediocre games on the NES, SNES, and there was a few for the PS1/PS2 and that was about the extent of it. At least Bandai has lots of great intellectual property or rights to IP that is perfect for gaming. Can't say the same for American Sammy...

Yeah I wanted it to happen too. I thought the combination of Sega and Bandai to be a perfect match and when I looked at how things went with the Dreamcast I can't stop thinking that Sega allied to Bandai could of put up a far better challenge to Sony, especially in Japan. Bandai were/are a huge company and had ambitions of getting in to the console business for a while. I think with Bandai's toy IP and marketing/financial strength that the Dreamcast vs PS2 could of been a really competitive matchup, like the SuperNintendo vs Genesis "war". Unfortunately the deal with Bandai fell through and ended up yet another lost opportunity for Sega. :(

Thats because beginning in 2009, SEGA stopped making physical 3rd party titles & shifted all their focus to digital, handheld, arcade & mobile game in house development and as means to save R&D money, handpick a dozen titles developed by independant developers with the choice of licensing & publishing them.

See, SEGA has been going through alot just to save a load in R&D. That shows that they're up to something.
