That sounds great. I'm holding my breath and hope that you'll keep working on it until it is finished. Are you developing this on your own or are you part of a team?Yijral wrote:I should have some examples of the models and it running on a retail SEGA Dreamcast soon.

Re: Online homebrew games?
If you're only going for Dreamcast support, I'd recommend against using SDL. SDL is basically a steaming pile of poo on the Dreamcast. I'd know, as I have used it extensively in the past (and was the one that pushed for it to be put in KOS' repo to start with).Yijral wrote:Yes, I'll be using KOS and SDL 1.2.

That said, KOS should already have everything you need to do online support with the BBA and/or Lan Adapter. I wrote the entire network stack that's in KOS 2.0 (and had been in the SVN and Git repos for a long time before that). PPP support is missing for using the modem, so you'll have to wait for me to get around to writing it (or, of course, beat me to the chase).
Oh, and just as an aside, if you need a good place to find development-related help with KOS, I'd recommend looking at the forums over at DCEmulation. The programming discussion forum there has all kinds of useful topics and has been around almost since the beginning of the Dreamcast homebrew community. You're probably more likely to find other developers there too.

No, the game-play will consist of 5-10 minute matches as I don't think everyone would love to sit their for 2 or 3 hours in one match (Personally I find that fun but the majority of gamers don't these days.Jenkins wrote: Is it possible to create a new village after I set up a strong army and discovered a perfect place for it?

I'm mainly working on this by myself however I do have a few friends lending a hand when needed as I have no skill in audio production and my 3D models use way too many polygons then they need so a friend 'dumbs' the model down for me.Omnibot2000 wrote:That sounds great. Also I will be sure to finish this project and keep you guys/girls updated and continue to show off progress of this game.

Yeah, I plan to port to PC, Mac and Linux so their can be more people on the servers at once however to make up for this not being a dreamcast exclusive. The Dreamcast will have features the 'Desktop' users don't. I just checked out the DCEmulation site and damn! It's really good!BlueCrab wrote:If you're only going for Dreamcast support, I'd recommend against using SDL. SDL is basically a steaming pile of poo on the Dreamcast.
