should we still be using the dc talk server ip as the dns setting in 4x4 ? i would like to try again getting this game connected.

Yeah, that's what I put in the primary DNS field in the connection setup options for 4x4. the game runs through its connection attempts for all 5 servers and then times out.....

very frustrating.

Check your settings again your DC seems to still be using your ISP's DNS servers. If you're using PC-DC or netopia try setting dns on the netopia or PC instead. The official evo server wasn't working the last time I checked so you won't be able to retreive the chatserver list from them. Using our DNS the dc-backend is retreived from our server so you can still connect that way.
