Pat yourself on the back boys. We made DC popular and valuable to the big boys again. There quite a few remasters coming to modern consoles now.

The Capcom collections
Soul Reaver remastered
Tomb raider 4,5,6 remastered (last revelation and chronicles)
Whatever the remastered versions of jet set radio and crazy taxi will be

Howdy folks, we continue to follow this story as the Sonic Adventure 2 player count continues to swell. On the first day of the new year, the active player count surpassed Sega's latest franchise release, Sonic x Shadow Generations. Sega promoted 2024 as the "Year of Shadow"; yet, this notable milestone strikes one day late. The biggest releases of the Year of Shadow campaign include the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie, Sonic x Shadow Generations, and a number of in-game events across other active Sonic games.

Here's my view on this stunning feat!

Sonic Adventure 2 was a great game on DC, further promoted as a multi-platform game for 6th and 7th-gen consoles. The Steam version suffers from the same problems as previous SA2: Battle releases post-DC, such as graphical changes and controller jank. Today, more modern PCs have optimization issues making the game unplayable without mods. The community forums are dominated by requests for help running the game. In spite of its limitations, fans seem to still find it entertaining, with one of the better storylines.

Sonic x Shadow Generations by comparison has glowing reviews. Some reviewers hail it as the best Sonic game since the first Generations title in 2011. On Steam it pulls an "Overwhelmingly Positive" score. For all purposes, Shadow Generations is the latest franchise installment with an October 2024 release date, and has the additional boost of television and cinema advertising campaign.

It's mind-blowing to witness players choose to commit time to a broken classic over the well-received hot new title. Hoping big blue takes notice and maybe pushes out a patch.

Live and learn!

THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2: Remake

Spring 2025, HotD2 comes "home" on modern platforms. (it isn't a house, it's in Venice). In other news, SA2 continues to top Shadow Generations by active player count day-for-day.

PSN and Switch, too. Any modern list would be a decent starting point to cross reference.

Tony Hawk 3+4 rerelease made me notice that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 has been out for some time.

also, Star Wars is back again! Star Wars: Episode I - Jedi Power Battles

That makes 75 Steam titles for Dreamcast originals, and if you include indies its well over 110. Compilations inflate the number even more.
