EDIT2: I got it to make that noise and the DreamCast was trying to connect but it said invalid username/password. I used the ones for the guide, I am going to see what they are.

EDIT3: I got the username and password sorted out, now it gets stuck at the Modem Connecting part on the DreamCast

EDIT4: It hung at the Modem Connecting Screen then went back to dialing then gave an invalid username/password error.

What does the log file say when you are trying to connect?

It worked!

It turns out the command to do the password in the guide sets the wrong password, but it is now working in PlanetWeb!

Now all I need to do is attempt Quake 3 Arena

I like Linux, I wish it was as compatible as windows, but then again, most of the programs I use are free.

EDIT: Now to see if Quake 3 and the server list works.

Linux is never as easy as point and click. It is much different from windows, but that doesn't mean its worse. Just like when you used your very first computer, which I'm guessing was windows. It can be very frustrating until you get used to it. The main issue with linux though IMO is the lack of software support and drivers for some devices. But seeing as how it is all open source and the OS itself is free you really can't complain too much.

Yeah that is true, for me, its just the lack of support for Linux, most of the World uses some form of Windows, which means most of the software runs on windows, but thankfully, a lot of free software, is open source and multi platform.

At the moment my Audio phone cord isn't working, it came undone and it won't work I have tried so many times, sometimes it works then when I tape it up it stops, all of the wires are wired correctly, and it won't give a dial tone at all.

You should solder the wires together when you splice the audio cable into your phone line if you haven't already. That way you won't have to worry about it falling apart and it will also have a more solid connection.

I would but I don't know how to solder.

I have a really really cheap soldering gun, that is probably a fire hazard, but I don't have any solder for it.

The twist wires thing is done on a lot of my cords.

My ethernet cable broke in the connector, it was a Cat5e Cable, and I twisted the wires together with a dollar store cable, but the Cat5e cable is about 20 feet the dollar store one is less then 4. My other ethernet cable is the same cable spliced and twisted back together like the rest.


I think I got this working this time, I used a good cable for the audio part, But unfortunately that makes my whole sound thing useless. But I think it finally works again. But the Phone cable part of it is a dollar store cable anyways.
