Finally got a 360. It's the most tempermental system I've ever owned. It has completely frozen several times. Out of the box a few months and already won't read discs with a light scratch or smudge. Most of the games are glitchy and half finished.

I think maybe they are trying to do too much and they've forgot the basic concept of a console. I don't want to play a deathmatch with people in Thailand. I don't want to pay to watch movies on my console that I can watch for free elsewhere. I don't wanna pay $20 to download games that I got for my birthday in 1989. I don't want to sync up my mp3 player to my console. I don't want to download a trendy Abercrombie sweater for my avatar.

I JUST WANT TO PLAY SOME FUCKING GAMES!!! Is that too much to ask?

You gotta be open minded. Its pretty obvious i love xbox 360 and ps3 for now i think, if you guys can read properly my post. But does that stop me from having a dreamcast? And hailing it? No. I respect both of them. I know both pros and cons of both of them (yeah dreamcast also have his downsides..). Stop acting like kids who just can say "this rocks and this other thing sucks!" one problem with this, back then there was nothing else to pick from, or very few choices. pong and pack-man were cutting edge! it wasn't the played out genre that FPS are today. to say FPS's are fine and that we shouldn't strive for innovation is foolish. its also foolish to just settle for any old shit you are given just because its here in front of you. why shouldn't we ask more from an industry that is charging us $60 per game and $500/600 per console?


you are right about one thing though. just because i personally don't like shooters doesn't mean that they suck. how ever this doesn't mean that we need a new shooter ever other day either. bottom line is that shooters are selling. they are profitable for developers, so until we stop buying them up left and right they are here to stay.

You are right. I admit this cancels my point. I take it back. But i think the meaning still remains. Let people play what the fuck they want.

I mentioned it earlier, theres even a worse case: sports game. Every franchise release a game per year per sports. Theres even, for soccer, many games per year. FIFA and PES. Theres one each fucking year. So what? Everybody blame on shooters for having too many and no on those? wtf...

And at least in shooters you get a story on each one. Yes, a REALLY CRAPPY one. But what hell, the same kind of shit you go to watch at theaters. Its the exact same thing. Plus lately they are really focusing on making cinematographic experiences. So yeah, 60$, but i guess you could say theres a theater ticket in it. You get to watch a crappy storyline movie with some awesome special effects.

In FIFA and PES you dont even get this. Its just match after match.. Completely senseless...

doc your 100% right about sports games. i don't see why we need a new sports game each year in this day in age. why the fuck can't we just update our rosters? seems like we might want a new game every other year or maybe even longer. now, with that said, does the fact that we have to many sports games mean we should have to many mediocre shooters too? don't get me wrong some shooters are top notch. but some of these shitz are horrible. one reason id like to see less shooters is so that development money could be put into new ideas. i also would like to see more of the genres that i play.

Yeah yeah, in despite im deeply in love with shooters, i can still say they are really some crappy ones. Army of two is a nice example. Everybody stay away from it.

I played my first fps roughly 25 years ago, I must say the genre hasn't changed much (apart from the online & the graphs off course)

problem with this statement is that you could make that argument for almost any genre. i think the reason we single out shooters is because they are on top atm.

actually i think your right about the sport games now that i think about it the games drop from being 60 usd to like 10 usd after a single year. but arnt they now starting to update the teams? i mostly play the sport games for the roster and nothing else. and no im not saying dreamcast has no flaws it has plenny but this topic was about why next gen consoles suck and that was my answer to it
