ItalianGrandma wrote: Fri Jul 12, 2024 8:56 pm Just got one of these today from the Dreamcast Live shop and it's pretty awesome! The only bummer was that my 8bitdo Arcade Stick doesn't seem to work with it wired or wireless via Magic-NS adapter (though, I have V1 and maybe that one just doesn't work) :( . Would love to see support added for the 8bitdo Arcade Stick!
The 8bitdo Arcade Stick doesn't/won't work.

The only solution I see is for Mayflash to update their firmware on the NS/NS 2/NS Lite to support the 8bitdo Arcade Stick. It's been a long time since we have seen an update - c'mon Mayflash.

True, true. I did wonder about the wired mode since it’s supposedly X-Input. I’ve heard 8bitdo controllers do weird things too, though.
Some of their older controllers, like SN30 Pro+ actually do work in wired x-input connected directly to the usb4maple. All their newer stuff, nope.

Unfortunately, 8bitdo's v2 USB adapter does not work with usb4maple. That would be ideal solution to get support for all of 8bitdo devices + (xbox, playstation & switch).

Hi there y'all. I've tried this mod myself but I got a little problem: I used an extension cord from China for the mod, but when cutting the wires I found 6 instead of 5 :( I took the multimeter and probed all the five in the diagram and the one left I soddered to GND and I also noticed it is the contact metal plate on the outside of the connector. The mod won't work so far with this knock-off cable as I can tell. Anyone tried this too or any tips?

What started as Virtual On twin sticks has morphed into Xeno Crisis twin sticks

This model and another one I build will be set up for two player Xeno Crisis at Long Island Retro

Hopefully a more fully realized Virtual On version will be complete before the end of the year, but I never could have made it this far with out the adapter as a starting point.

Secondly, this could be a be stupid question, but I can’t seem to find a definitive answer anywhere. Can you use a keyboard and mouse at the same time with a single usb4maple and a hub/splitter? Or do you need two of them?
Yes. One adapter works with both keyboard and mouse when paired with a hub/splitter. A cool feature, indeed.
Is there a particular way to get a keyboard and mouse supported on a hub/splitter at the same time? Doesn’t seem to recognize my mouse and keyboard at the same time but it does independently if only one is plugged in. Also if both are plugged in the keyboard takes priority it would seem. Using 240p test suite to check all this.

I’m using an Logitech m171 and k400+.

Hate to be the questions guy, but I have been searching around and haven’t been able to find an answer maybe both of these devices when used together draw to much power? I’m at a loss lol.

The metal plate id assume is for cable shielding, I wouldn’t worry about it. I bought these and they fit in pcwzrds printable usb4maple enclosure he has on printables.com.

I think MoeFoh may have misunderstood the question. The Dreamcast can't recognize two different devices in one port so having a keyboard and mouse both plugged into the same port wouldn't work.

Hi!
Great work with this adapter! I just made one and tried it out with some keyboards and Typing of the Dead.
Logitech UltraX Premium Keyboard did not work
Ace CUB100 worked for a while but kept getting disconnected
An old plastic Apple Keyboard did not work
But the new metal Keyboard from Apple worked great!

I’ve got some questions though: I’ve got a Swedish keyboard where “ is supposed to be on shift+2, but I get @ there instead (uk layout?) Is it possible to get it to use the correct layout somehow?

Also, would it be possible to add support for GunCon2/other light guns in a future update?

Thanks again!
