Re: Dreamcast Live Game Suggestion Thread
the furthest I ever got was to the fight with Char or what ever his name is in the arcade, I lost it and vowed to not settle for the losers ending but rather play it through again and win but I never had the time/patients to go through and do it again

You are not supose to win that fight! if you for some reason do then it has zero effect on the rest of the story.
His name is Chai btw:)

Re: Dreamcast Live Game Suggestion Thread
of course you are! I've seen people win it on youtube and read about it, anyway nevermind, I've gone back countless times to Shenmue 1 and never gotten that far again, I may try and do it again soon but I don't get enough free time to do it

Re: Dreamcast Live Game Suggestion Thread
Actually I just looked it up and it seems it is possible to beat him. It even effects the game a bit. This is what I found:Scandinavian wrote:You are not supose to win that fight! if you for some reason do then it has zero effect on the rest of the story.

A. As hard as it may seem, it is indeed possible. Here’s some good tips; It is possible to beat Chai, the first time you fight him, in the You Arcade. I have found the easiest way is to train the Crawl Cyclone move, available from the Bunkado Antiques shop, to moderate level and then set it to the R button. Then, when facing Chai, do not start an attack, defend his attack, then hit the R button. Of course, you can vary your attacks, however, punches and combos he generally blocks and high kicks go over his head; therefore use low kicks, and possible throws if u can utilise them properly. Learning how to defend successfully is the most important aspect. I recommend saving the game just before you meet Chai, so you can repeat the fight over. Once Chai is defeated, you have to free the Arcade owner and go on a search for Chai, which leads you to the Asia Travel Co as usual, however, Ryo's attitude changes after he beats Chai and is quite cool.

Re: Dreamcast Live Game Suggestion Thread
thanks for proving my point! I went back a number of times and spent hours training in the car park to get my moves high enough but I never had the patience to finish, I might be tempted to do it again though, I do adore the game

So Ultra, did you ever play Shenmue 2 ? You're such a massive DC fan and you've bought and played so many of the games.....I'm shocked you never finished the first game !

Yeah, I was quite surprised to hear that confession myself... but who ami to judge. Sure I've beat the first shenmue a few time but have yet to complete the second one (although I came real close, and then I broke up with my ex and she took back her PAL copy of Shenmue 2
) dumb move of me.... should have ended it AFTER completing the entire game
