I thought he said he'll solve the problem once the kickstarter is finished.
The kickstarter is the fix, is it not? Dux 1.5?

If you can afford only one, go for STURMWIND ;)
The only thing that concerns me is that there's a good chance preorders for Dark Matters will sell out, and since they will not be pressing any more copies, it may be my only chance to get the game.

On the other hand, I want that Sturmwind LE, which is also likely to sell out. Does anyone know how many copies of the LE are being produced? However, since the release date is TBA, I'm sure it's a ways away, meaning that by the time its release is announced, I may have money for it.

The Kickstarter is about Redux. DUX 1.5 is just some kind of bonus and will be included in the limited two-disc-edition.
Zouzzz of dreamcast-news.blogspot.fr asked Rene Hellwig on facebook what happened to the promise that every buyer of the original DUX will get the fixed version (DUX 1.5) for free. Rene answered the following:
On DUX 1.5 revision disc: As promised some while ago all original purchasers of DUX will have the option to receive a revision disc for free (+shipping). This is optional though since our kickstarter Redux LE offer does include that disc already. Anyway, once the disc is produced, which will be December 2012 or before, there will be a form where you can order such disc. There needs to be proof you own/purchased the original game though.
Regarding the LE of STURMWIND: There will be about 900 copies available.

Alec, I think the tentative release date for Sturmwind is June, though I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that proved optimistic.

Getting back to Redux, I have to say that, despite reservations, I'm still glad I pledged. Come on, when all your mates are opening their latest by-the-numbers shooter on Ps3 or 360 on Christmas Day 2012, placing this disc inside your DC, you'll have that warm, smug and special feeling that you made the right decision to help keep the dream alive. The project has more positives than negatives ! I'm also hopeful that Rene makes good all of his promises, and that the whole Dreamcast community is happy at the outcome. I would only ask them to grant one wish for the future, and that is they don't completely forget or ignore the DC in favour of those newer systems that they are so desperate to access. Don't forget who is funding that dream !

For now, as I've already donated, I'm going to sideline Redux and put all my thoughts towards Gunlord and Sturmwind. These two games are within touching distance and I'm beginning to believe the hype surrounding them may have some substance. Everyone I've spoken to say that these two games are well above average and set new benchmarks for DC homebrew. This is a great time to be a Dreamcast fan, so let's stay positive and enjoy what the coming year has to bring.

Yes, I meant that DUX 1.5 is a part of the Kickstarter.

As far as I'm concerned, the later, the more time I have to obtain money for preordering. I'm sure that's optimistic; if it weren't, they'd at least have set a firm release date.

I'm sure that won't be an issue. We've certainly proven the strength of the Dreamcast homebrew market. Besides, doesn't the "NG" in NG:DEV.TEAM stand for Neo Geo?

Yes it does. Also, as for the "Helwig hate," Rene Helwig is one of the core members of NG Dev Team - aka you could probably say he is behind bringing Gunlord, Fast Striker, etc to DC.

Between the NG Dev Team games and Dux, he's probably been the driving force for half of the commercial homebrew releases for DC in the last couple of years - and arguably some of the more polished looking ones ;)

I just played through the original DUX again today & noticed that if you plunge in the water in lv2, it doesn't move. seems to do so in the redux vid. ok, I admit its a tiny improvement, but this kind of detail can actually improve how a game feels imo

Well, at over $37,000, with 12 days and plenty of rewards remaining, it looks like we'll be getting our extra ship. Now we just have to see about that extra stage...

I got that email too. Now I really hope they reach their mark, though I'm not sure they will. Hopefully this will inspire backers to pledge further. Can't pledge anymore myself though, don't have any money at the moment.

I suppose if they are going to line their pockets with our money, then we might as well take the steel case outta the deal. 2-player would be an even nicer reimbursement :)
