Well, with regard to why XDP doesn't work on your TV in your main room, my guess would be that for whatever reason it doesn't like that you're using RGB. It is pretty easy to detect the cable type in code, so perhaps there's something in the browser that sees RGB and says "I'm not compatible" and exits.
I don't think there's a flag in the IP.BIN for it (as I know there is for VGA), but I could be wrong.
I really doubt that it is your BBA itself, and your settings look ok based on what you've described. Did you try using the patcher + the gateway's address as the DNS? It may well be just the network distance between you physically and the DNS server making the game think that the DNS lookup for the server's address has timed out. That's really the only thing I can think of, other than what Aleron Ives said in the post before this one in the thread.

Re: Reporting bugs with the PSO server
I would say it isn't that, because I've experienced that problem myself. Back when Sega put up the temporary Hunter's License server that allowed the JP version to go online for free, I tried to use it with USv2 and couldn't because it was too many hops away. When that is the case, PSO displays one of the large message windows that covers the screen saying that the attempt to connect to the server failed (and in the case of the HL server, it's the "line was disconnected to due network errors" message). I had to get around the problem by using a LAN proxy between the Dreamcast and the HL server, so PSO would think that there was only one hop between the Dreamcast and the server. Since DCUltrapro is just seeing the standard disconnection message that appears in the lower left of the screen, his problem is likely not due to hopcount.BlueCrab wrote:It may well be just the network distance between you physically and the DNS server making the game think that the DNS lookup for the server's address has timed out.
Since he's using EUv2 though, the way to be sure would be for him to try going online with USv2, instead. If he still sees the same disconnection message as he does with EUv2 yet still reaches the server, then I would be relatively confident that the hopcount has been ruled out as the culprit.

Re: Reporting bugs with the PSO server
thanks guys I will try plugging the DC into my white open reach box directly instead of the homehub, and I'll try connecting with the US PSO v2 disc that I burned a while ago to see if that has the same problem.
Blue Crab, I did try the Patcher, perhaps I should try it again tonight, I am not sure about "+ the gateway's address as the DNS?" when you say the gateway do you mean the gateway my IPCONFIG screen gives me? If that is the case I am not sure it should be in the vid where I displayed what settings I had used in XDP if you navigate to about 7.55 on the vid you'll see the settings I used

Re: Reporting bugs with the PSO server
Yes, that's exactly what I mean. Most of the time your router can act as a cacheing DNS server, and that would be pretty much the closest you could get the DNS server to you. If that doesn't work, you could always try using one of the old tools like Dr.DNS on your PC and setting the PC's IP address as the DNS server.DCUltrapro wrote:Blue Crab, I did try the Patcher, perhaps I should try it again tonight, I am not sure about "+ the gateway's address as the DNS?" when you say the gateway do you mean the gateway my IPCONFIG screen gives me?

I wasn't suggesting it was the hop count itself. I was saying that the game might have thought that the connection timed out, regardless of the hop count.Aleron Ives wrote:I would say it isn't that, because I've experienced that problem myself. To think it was something as simple as it was that was wrong though.

Re: Reporting bugs with the PSO server
ok so just a quick update for you guys Blue Crab and Aleron who might I add have been very helpful during this issue
I tried with the PSO Patcher, still got the error, tried with the PSOv2 burnt US version, still got the error. The other day while I was online for the first time it disconnected while I was playing
Still haven't been able to pin down what the issue is but I'm just loathe to buy a new BBA until I can guarantee that it is definitely that which has gone wrong as it will cost me £120 or so lol

Re: Reporting bugs with the PSO server
DCUltrapro, I noticed your videos on the issue on youtube, (posted a couple of comments under the name SohoMonkey), I just wanted to say that I am also on BT using the Home Hub 3.
I too had issues logging in, I eventually tried the patcher boot disc with my new character which let me log in, saved, quit, and now when I run straight from original PAL PSOv2 I can login every time.
For XDP I set all settings to automatic apart from the DNS which I set the same as you, everything seems to work perfect, I've not even had the issue with the analogue stick either, so I dont know if you tried automatic for everything else?

Re: Reporting bugs with the PSO server
you left the IP address and default gateway etc as default? maybe I will wipe the settings and try with XDP in my spare room just putting the DNS as you say because it worked for me previously and I didn't do all of the changes that wiz and the others here have suggested. Its only since this time recently that I've had issues
Nice avatar btw
