I cant agree with you more. The only reason I mentioned that site was that I read their forums more often, and I have seen games such as Hypertension mentioned there first.
Also, Jambo the site owner respects these new commercial indie developers so much so, that if any of the last few released games got uploaded there, he has promptly removed them from his site.
That site is more or less for abandon ware and homebrew games.
I was so surprised to find this game was in development. I too was so sick of the side scrolling shmups and just generally the fact that all the games made for the Dremcast in the last few years have all been 2d games. The Dreamcast is capable of so much more graphic wise, that I feel it is almost a wast for these companies to put all that time and effort in a 2D game that will appeal to so few DC owners.

Its funny you say the scrolling shooters dont push the dc too hard.I thought so too till I extracted what was on screen using null dc and dxripper.
Trigger heart exellica pushed the dreamcast the hardest any other game ever pushed it.According to an emu author he said it was around 44000 triangles/33000 verts per frame(In which he is right,I noticed it runs averagely along those lines). What I extracted was 57000 triangles and around 60000 verts in the frame I captured. And the game runs at 60 fps(meaning with that count it ran about 3.4 million triangles per second at MAX though.).Hell shenmue does around 26000-40000 triangles per frame at 30 fps!(much lower...)
.I was suprised to see this ugly shooter pushed the machine for all its worth.Would have been interesting what the dreamcast could have done much later into its life time.

Haha damn, that is surprising. I never played that game, but logically you would think that the shooters would be less demanding on the system. I know Shenmue was up there on pushing the system to its limits, but I had no idea that a lowly shooter had the best looking DC game beat.
Also, I think I heard that Test Drive Le Mans was also a game that was close to the limit that the DC could handle, but I am not sure about this.
Back on topic, I just hope these guys stay dedicated to this game and see it through till the end.

We are keeping the limitations of our hardware in mind, most of our models don't exceed 7000 vertices.
Our latest model that I have just completed is the model of AroCat. The devious, tyrannical mastermind of Tahi. He is part machine and part 'Reegolian' (Arocean is the faction that he is associated with) In the story of this game. The game will go into his back story as to why he became what he was, as well as a few other things.
I was originally going to keep the villain a secret but I think a visual update is in order, however, I have the resolution down so it's not all too revealing, not until the game is released =)
The model as you can see is RENDERED, it's not ready for the Dreamcast as of yet, we'll have to transform it into nothing but X,Y,Z vertices and texture it for the Dreamcast.
Enjoy!

Dude! That thing looks like it would take down the mech in Slave Zero! Very well detailed and good art style!

Great one Mayzonemayu!
Due to all of the research being performed for this game (and there is A LOT of it), there is no release date as of yet. Since we are a small group of people, unlike most studios we cannot crank out a game within half a year to a year. We will do are best to expedite the process of this game, but we want this game to be as well programmed as we can make it!

I agree, I'd rather have a decently finished endproduct than something rushed & buggy

In retrospect, Sonic Adventure was still pretty good.
Anyway, Take your time on this game RETICON, but get it out before 2012 (You know why

)
