Hi, couple of quick questions that I can’t seem to get up to date/ definitive answers on:

1) My DC has a modded power supply, so am I okay to just use a step down converter to the Karaoke box and ignore the power out cable it provides.

2) My setup only supports VGA, is this still an issue or not

3) Assuming I can use VGA and the Power as mentioned above, has anyone got any leads on where to get one of these in the UK?

Yes you can

Yes and No. Native support is for AV/S-video/Scart.
VGA support need a custom cable between kara and dc.

Can't answer that one, but you should look at local Ebay/Facebook Marketplace and similar. Seems like the price is high this days

Right, so I have one coming. I can also sort out the power, but I've no idea where to get a custom cable like the one you linked for VGA Support!

Can you point me in the direction?

I believe you will need an electronics professional who has some experience with retro consoles to know how to make this cable. There is no specific person I could recommend.

Also, because I would not know how to make the cable, what I noticed is that it is a simple splice, where the pins should be in the same position on both ends, and it also appears to have a reinforced grounding wire. If this professional looks at the images, I believe he can reproduce it.

If you can't get this cable that uses all the pins, it's still an option to use karaoke with the traditional cable that supports composite video, s-video and I believe supports scart.

Thanks, just as an FYI only a handful of those images in the Mega folder are accepted as valid images from OpenMenu (well GDMENU Card Manager). The main two I'd like to have working don't (Sega Games and Dragonball).

Nexdt level SFD, Linkin Park and Yakawa were all recognised

For GDEMU users, there are a few more details to be said.

Pure VCDs will not be recognized as valid game discs. However, this does not prevent you from manually placing them in the numbered directories on the SD card and swapping the disc at the right time.

I have already tested all of them using GDEMU, so here are the instructions:

Example of what the directories look like:

01-Open Menu or GDEMU Classic Manager
02- Game 1
03 - Game 2
04 - SegaKara Boot VCD
05-VCD1 cdi (copied manually, outside of the Manager)
06-VCD2 cdi (copied manually, outside of the Manager)

Once you start SegaKara Boot VCD, go to the appropriate screen and press the GDEMU button to jump to the next directory and it should work.

Additionally, include this parameter in the GDEMU ini file:
image_tests = 0

Text me at Discord: Scrivani

The text below is also included in the first instructions post of the topic.

GDEMU tips:
Leave the VCDs in position right after the SEGAKARA, so that when you press the physical button on the GDEMU you will swap the disk to the VCD properly. Another important tip is to make sure that your GDEMU.ini file in the root of the card has this configuration:

Code: Select all

image_tests = 0

My SEGAKARA is on the way and I'm excited. This thread is what made me finally push the button and order one.

Scrivani, I'm looking at the custom cable you have. If I'm looking at it correctly, it's just a simple passthrough cable. Is that correct?
