I find your lack of faith disturbing. </vader voice>
Serious negativity and doubt going on here concerning my very ownership of a dev kit. Now I ask, what good could possibly come from lying? Well obviously none whatsoever. So to the Doubting Thomas's amoungst us here, you need to dispell the doubt and negativity from your minds at once.

The general lack of paitence in this thread, and elsewhere, is beginning to spill over into my e-mail account.

It would take 126 continuous hours for me to upload System Shock 2. I'm on dial-up here people, and I've never seen an internet connection stable enough to allow myself or anyone else here at home to remain online longer than six hours without something causing a disconnect. That said, I have broadband access at work, and when necessary I do use it for personal matters.

This is not the only side project I have ongoing. And right at this moment in time there are two other projects being worked on that are pre-empting this one. Again I shall re-itterate that it, the dev kit, has sat in the bottom of my closet for a period exceeding two years and the curiousity has not, I repeat, has not killed me. Ergo, find something to do to take your mind off of this for a while, like by playing some PSO.

Did I ask for money? Have I ever asked for money? Have I at some point since having revealed the existence of these betas ever said anything about holding these betas hostage for monetary gain? Do I honeslty come across as being so stupid as to seek to collect money for software which is clearly going to be getting distributed not only illegally, but also more than likely against the will of whomever owns the copyright? No, I have not.
As far as actual progress towards this project goes:
- Have SDK software which someone either here or elsewhere thankfully provided a download link for. Not installed yet.
- Have a spare XP Pro running PC I've started on preparing for the sole purpose of uniting with the Dev Kit for the intent of validating the state of the Beta's. And if anyone knows a valid reason why I shouldn't use XP to do this now is a really good time to speak up.
- Have the SCSI cable. Whoopee!
What I still don't have and will need to buy and install is a compatible SCSI card. The card at work that was used to pull the data frrom the HDD has only a 50-pin internal SCSI connector. Obviously though the Dev Kit requires a 50-Pin External connector. Having priced both cards and connection adapters I found that a used card goes for as little as $20 on Ebay, but the connection adapters (internal to external) are selling for insanely more than a good used card itself is.
Right now though, one of those other ongoing projects has consumed every last cent of all of the spending money from my last three paychecks. And I'm sure you'lll be interested to know that that money pit project is something I'll be talking about on this forum in due time.
