Update DreamPi 1.6 to 1.7

Do I need data from version 1.6 (from the SD card) or can I simply reinstall version 1.7?

You can erase and reflash 1.7. Nothing is needed from 1.6

You should definitely update to 1.7 as some games will not work without 1.7 changes

Internet Game Pack for sure. It easy to apply just erase the current one and flash the new one
just do a fresh install, its plug and play after that.

Unless you're setting up email, then no should be same dreamcast settings
