does my gdemu have any hope for being fixed?

i lent my mate my dreamcast alongside the gdemu i picked up off ebay a few months back so he could try it out to see if he wanted one of his own. for some stupid reason he tried to update it after i told him not to. now it just boots to the DC menu looks like the GDEMU uses the atsam3u4e chip before i go out and spend 60$ on a replacement gdemu is there any hope here or is all lost
if it matters on the gdemu it says version 5.15B and has a silver sd card slot
