With new sdloader it may be a good choice.
Keep in mind not all games aren't compatible and the speed is quiet low.

Can these be used to rip indie games? With A lot of my independent DC games, I can't find rips online.

Have to say very nice looking but I'm more interested in those metal connectors. Look much better than the hacked together plastic ones. Could make some nice coders cables or a vs cable with them.

i'm a fan of these damn sd card adapters.
i still have yet to buy a gdemu.
more than likely most ppl will have multiple systems...

one with gd-rom, one with gd emu, one with a hdd
at least ppl have more options than paying what would amount to a used car for the insane priced original retail gd roms.
the dreamcast should always be an affordable system.

buy one of these sd adapters and then eventually buy a gd emu.
no1 truly cares if you have a sealed copy of mars matrix.
but by all means, its your money do whatever the hell you want.

How are the performance of these card adapters compared to the gdemu? Is the main difference being gdemu is considerably faster?

I have been thinking about trying either of these options for quite some time. Is there a huge drawback on either, like what games or software won't work?

SD card adapter is not comparable to GDemu or MODE. It's great for homebrew and some official titiles, but the port is just too slow for many games to even function. If you are just looking to run a few applications but mainly still use your disc based games its good. But if you are wanting to run all your games this way its not a good idea.
