Need advice

Im seriously planning on getting a DC, probably next month (it will depend on the budget). Im a complete noob. Had a DC when it was its time, but everything legit. Just bought it at the local store, with games, accessories and i was done. It was completely legit.
First question, what would it be better, getting a japanese, or an european system?
Do i need to mod chip it or not?
Does vga boxes work well for a dvi monitor? Ive read things like some games were not compatible.. If thats the case, would i need to get a tv? O_o thats not a option, it just wouldnt fit on my desktop..
And finally, im highly tempted with this article:
http://www.hardcore-gamer.net/tienda/pr ... ts_id/7747
Its a limited edition i do like (sakura sucks balls, but the black color owns) i cant find anywhere else(places i trust). Its a bit pricey, but apparently its really rare. They got left only one piece left, so i assume that justifies the price.
Do you guys think its worthy, or i just should get a normal dc on ebay?
thanks

Would i bet able to run ALL games(from all regions) using bootdisk on a japanese console?
And what about the question ive asked about the vga box? Are they really issues with it on some games? Or not?

there's a bunch of games (both pal & ntsc us) that don't work in vga, but can be tricked into vga by using a bootdisk some games really don't work (not that many), but most of those stink anyway
here's a list.
to work round this problem I've hooked my dc up to my hdtv with the vga box & for those few games, I simply switch to a scart cable

Cheers! Indeed theres very few games that arent compatible, i dont think im gonna miss any..
But how does the patching work? I mean, is it worth it? Feels like playing a normal game? Or is it that buggy its barely playable?
Thanks.

If you live in Europe I recommend buying a European Dc. That way you can get the games for your region and for the japanese ones you can use a boot disc. But If you do download any Japanese games, they are usually self boot(doesn't require boot disc) anyways.
f you really want the Japanese console you could use boot discs to play other region games on it.

I forgot to mention, im only planning on using "backup" disks. No store here sells dreamcast anymore.. And i read somewhere "backuped" games act like they had no region code. Is that true?
EDIT: Another problem i need to be solved is the inet access.
What i have:
An ugly adsl router for tv/pc(this piece of shit with weird phone adapters:
http://images.kapaza.com/photos/18500000/18571215.jpg ) Yes i know phone jacks in developed countries doesnt look like this, i hope it wont be an unsolvable issue.
Problem is, its downstairs. And no phone line upstairs. Im using wifi, and plugging a cable down to the router is REALLY the last option. To make it a nice instalation, it would require like 30 meters of cable or something..
But thats in the case i would have a bba. Which probably never gonna happen.
Dial up also requires a close phone jack.. Same situation as before..
Googling ive came over that:
http://www.maturion.de/dreamcast/mterlouw/
Does this really work? I dont mind tweaking my OS as long as this gives the results.
Dont mind the slow speed either, games were designed to be ran on that speed.
EDIT2: FOUND THIS!

Im sorry if the above post is confusing, im confused myself. Ill ask the question clearly. What version should i pick? JAP, USA, or EU? Im planning on playing exclusively downloaded games. Not a single original game.

Thanks for the answer. Regarding the internet connection, i got myself a bba

was shipped this morning. Just one question regarding it: as i mention before, my adsl router is located downstairs. I was thinking, can i make my windows share the internet? by plugging an ethernet cable from the pc to the bba. Would that work? Or does it HAVE TO be connected to the router?

yea that was what i was going to try, just asking if it was known to be working or if i should start looking for an uber long cable.
will post results as soon as i get my dc and bba

quick offtopic question:
I went on a games downloading rampage and the fact is that most games, once uncompressed obviously, takes in between 700-900. When cdrs are 700. Do i need to get higher capacity cdrs? Or is there a way to easily remove the dummy files?
