Samba de amigo Maraca repair

Post by Washp »

Hi, I got a set of maracas about a year ago, and they were working great. but recently i've noticed one of them has stopped detecting when i shake. I've flipped the controllers around to the opposite ports and the same maraca wouldn't hit the notes. has anyone dealt with fixing maraca controllers? are they repairable?

Probably fixable but you have to open it.
I guess for a false electrical contact somewhere.

A clean may be enough.

Hi everyone, I'm reviving this post just to check if someone knows how to properly open the maracas. I'm not sure, but I suspect I have a similar problem with one.
As I'm not sure yet I think I need to test it a little more, but it would be nice if anyone has experience in repairing the maracas, if not and I confirm that i'm having this problem I could try to make a tutorial myself, but I'm a little afraid of breaking the maracas even more.

With one of my sets it was the cable going from the maracas to the sensor that had a bad connection. I fixed this by replacing that small piece of cable with a CAT/UTP cable. It's not an visually pleasant solution, but its gets the job done :)
