Gidday all. What you think the best flight game is on the DC. Aerowings is good but doesn't look the best. I still find Pilotwings 64 awesome 12 years after first playing it.

the first Aerowings is ok for flying around but it gets boring fast. Aerowings 2 is much better. it has 2 player dog fighting. being able to blow a friend up makes all the difference. the best Aerowings game is an import though. its called "Aero Dancing i" and you will have to import it from Japan. in Aero Dancing i you get all the goodness of AeroWings 2 plus you get extra jets and you can bomb ground targets.

Iron Aces is an ok WWII flight game. it has a 2 player dog fighting as well as a single player campaign.

if your into more of an arcade flight game you should look into downloading propeller arena. it has a 4 player dog fight mode, so if your looking to play with friends this might be the best one for you. the game never got released because of 911, so the story goes. it how ever was leaked out on the internet, so you can find it if you look. hell it may even be here at DC-Talk in the download section.

the last game that comes to mind is Airforce Delta. i completely hated Airforce delta. what can i say the game just didnt hold up well to the other games that i listed. on a positive note i'm sure you can buy it pretty cheap

the only other flying games that come to mind are shooters like under defeat. i think you are looking for more of a simulation though?

i don't consider games like Starlancer or Bang! Gunship elite to be flying games. in my opinion they are space shooters. if you add them to the list then you should probably add games like Armada, Gigawing 1&2, ikaruga, rez, under defeat and all the other similar games.

to be fair Starlancer and Bang! do fit into the flight category better than most of the games i just listed. also i suppose propeller arena is a 3d prop plane arena shooter.

in any case mike_sheree you should youtube videos of all the games listed. if any of them look like something you would play you can check ebay for them. or if they cost to much try the download section. i know Areo Dancing i isn't cheap, if you can even find it :x

I preferred Airforce Delta over the Aerowings/Aero Dancing series.

Iron Aces was just meh to me. It was graphically horrible meh, audibly meh. And the flight capabilities of the individual aircraft were either really pathetic in a bad sort of way or overly realistic.

I would suggest Airforce Delta as well. It is probably the best flight simulator on the Dreamcast.

Good level design

Large variety of Aircrafts you can purchase and fly

Good action

Nice controls and views

All in all a perfect game.

the thing that turned me off about Airforce Delta was the lack of a chase view. if i am flying a bad ass jet i would like to see it on the screen. cockpit views have always seemed lame to me. if the developers wants to include a cockpit view that is cool by me, but don't force me to use it by not including any other options.

i can understand game_player_s frustration with Iron Aces. graphically it is not up to par. it almost looks like a PS1 game. the controls seemed ok to me though. i imagine a WWII plane would handle like shit   also if you use a boot disc to load it on VGA it helps a little with the graphics.

There is a view like that. Check the manual.

i couldn't find the damn game so i went out and bought another copy. turns out TheCoolinator you are correct. you have to hit Y+B to change your perspective. no fucking wonder i couldn't figure that out before. i seem to remember checking the start menu and options with no luck.

so now here i am wanting to play the game over, but it doesn't support VGA. i try to trick the game but the signal is out of my monitors range. so lame, just when the game was starting to earn higher marks from me it gets knocked back down. i have to hook up another Dreamcast to my tv again. just a few weeks ago i put it away thinking that i wouldn't need it out anymore

i will report back what i think of the game in a third person perspective soon.

its starting to make sense why you guys like this game more than aerowings 1&2. AeroWings 1&2 are flight simulators. this thing is not even close to a simulator. i just shot like 12 missiles with out restocking up on ammo. sure i am playing on easy mode so maybe they limit your weapons on harder modes?? also the controls are more like a car than a jet fighter. if i push the stick to the right or left the jet will fly to the right or left instead of rolling as it should. this game reminds me of after burner. not that this is a bad thing though.

another thing i can't have fun trying to land these. in Aero Dancing i you get a harrier jet. trying to take off and land on a carrier with all of the planes is all part of the fun. try the smaller prop planes. they aren't even meant to be used on carriers.

the one area that Airforce Delta does do well compared to Areowings is graphics. and this is really only for the environments. your jet looks to be about the same to me. Airforce delta does cheat by using fog where as Aerowings has an option to have everything clear in mid day.

all in all the game is worth the $5 i just paid for it, again! lmao i bought the game about 4 years ago from gamecrazy for around the same price. only the manual was missing it's pages. so it came with the front picture and disc in a replacement case. so re-buying the game complete wasn't a bad thing at all.
