Unformatted Nexus Memory card problem

So I just got a Dreamcast and I've been trying to play Resident Evil Code Veronica. Unfortunately every time I try to save it says my memory card is unformatted. Now I did some research and found it was a Nexus memory card but that I didn't get the cable with it either. The card already has problems working as it takes a couple of tries for it to not come up with an X icon under the file option in the dreamcast hub. I've tried doing the delete all (memory reset) as well but that just makes the x return.

Anyone know if there's a way to fix this?

sounds like your card is going bad. i normally hit reset all if i have any trouble and that usually works. its my understanding that these massive memory cards use file compression that the normal VMUs do not. so you may want to buy a normal VMU for playing games.

I had a similar problem with RECV, it recognized the files but when I tried to load the file the game froze. What I made was copying the games to another memory card, "Reset All" my old VMU, copy the files back and the problem was fixed. Seemed like some program I used has messed the formatting somehow, but the Dreamcast BIOS was still able to read the files.

I don't have probelm with the nexus aside that for some odd reason transfering saves to the pc doesn't work well.
I don't use the nexus in my casual games, but it's good to store something that uses lot's of blocks like custom tracks on revolt or all the missions in star lancer.

Try and get a original VMU, maybe that helps.

Oh, the card I had problem with was an official VMU.

Can you try copying everything you have to another memory card and then formating the one you have to see if later it works?
