HISTORIC: the very first game to support LAN ADAPTER HIT-0300

This is a historic post for me.

Dreamcast Ethernet Devices:
Broadbad Adapter HIT-0400 Realtek RTL8139C 10/100 Mbps 100Base-T
LAN Adapter HIT-0300 Fujitsu MB86967 10/10 Mbps 10Base-T

I just realized that Kazade programmed his Driving Strikers to also support connection via the rare accessory LAN ADAPTER HIT-0300.

Since its launch it has been proposed with the only ability to browse the internet.

However, a driver for KalistOS was developed a long time ago and from what I understand Kazade hasn't left that behind.
I even consulted him about this possibility.

What you will see below is an image that shows the combination of three fantastic things:

- Running the demo of the imminent Driving Strikers game
- Connected via LAN Adapter HIT-0300
- Associated with the use of BBA Mode for DreamPi that I developed and will be explained in a new and own topic.

The new BBA Mode for DreamPi automatically detects a connection made over Dreamcast Ethernet devices for inclusion in Dreamcast Now Page. Once disconnected or logged out, the user is removed from Dreamcast Now. No manual action required.

This tool has already received tests and is possibly present in the new DreamPi 1.8. Also installable on DreamPi 1.7

BBA Mode can be set to start a certain amount of minutes after turning on the RaspberryPi or it can also be triggered manually. Once running, it disables the modem function until the next reboot. RasbperryPi connected by wi-fi and this internet shared by the lan port reaching the BBA/Lan Adapter in the Dreamcast.

These are mine.

Guys, isn't this amazing!?

So have you managed to have the DreamPi emulate a broadband adapter? Amazing work either way!

I actually have a LAN adapter coming in the mail from one of this scene's founders. I have been ADAMANT in not wanting to leave the LAN adapter behind in this scene, given the fact KOS support is already there. I think that would be a huge mistake and that we should be supporting everything we can, even if Sega really didn't.

That being said, I'm so stoked that it looks like it already just works! I plan to help keep an eye out for that driver and help support it in the future once mine comes in the mail! I think it's a huge deal, and I'm so glad Strikers looks like it'll support it!

Nothing emulated

Is real hardware

Dreamcast with BBA or LAN Adapter connects through RaspeerryPi/Dreampi LAN Port + Software

It's so cool that you're still in doubt, I just connected to Driving Strikes with a LAN Adapter, yes. :D , Oh well, I hope still in final version lol

I didn't even know DreamPi could proxy an ethernet connection to the DC like that... Jesus. Now I need one even more. That's *really* cool.

Do any Japanese only games support the lan adapter? Is the connection a lot better than dreampi with driving strikers or is it a similar experience? And last question, do you need dreampi just to show up on dreamcast now?

No, it was created only with support for browsing by its own GD "DreamPassport for LAN".
galaxygod wrote:Is the connection a lot better than dreampi with driving strikers or is it a similar experience?
No, should be similar or just 20% better.

BBA Mode is useful both for acting was a Wifi Repeater>Ethernet and dreamcast now detection, its like wifi for bba, cause you'll be able to connect even far from cables, just like you could do with any Wifi Repeater. But you can still connect BBA/LAN Adapter direct to the router cable as always, without dc now, obviously. ;)

Sorry for my stupid question, but what is going on here? What is the lan adapter? And what does the pi do with it and the bba?
