Saw something about how NBA and NFL don’t work online through flycast? Is this true? I haven’t been able to find a definitive answer.

I can confirm that NBA does not work online.

NBA 2K1, NBA 2K2, NCAA 2K2, NFL 2K1, NFL 2K2, Daytona USA
in all these games, to work online, you need to spoof the IP address in incoming packets; in DreamPI and PC-DC, this is done by the services dc2k2 and dcdaytona.

I don't know what that means but can it be done?

flycast developers cannot do this because they do not have the source code for the dc2k2 and dcdaytona services.
those who have the dc2k2 and dcdaytona source code cannot do this because they do not have the flycast source code.

damn that sucks.

To be honest, I've already spoken to Flycast developer Flyinghead about this a few times. He has even tried to contact Shuouma without success. He is totally open to implementing the code, I mean these packages and he even tried to do it himself, but without success. He is always available on discord. Maybe Shuouma could help with that. I believe it would help to have more players online and Flycast is a great option as it runs on smartphones, xbox series and PC.

well, now Flyinghead has released DCnet, and the game list is growing fast!
