Does the akura box change vga picture into hdmi picture?

Considering buying an akura box. Curious though, am i getting the same image id get if I used a vga cable only? Or is it converting the vga image into an hdmi image?

Please do not suggest alternative methods, i am very aware of what they are, i am only curious in the question asked, Thank you!

It's still a 480p signal either way just goes over HDMI instead of VGA.

Yeah but sometimes hdmi adds an extra shinyness to the color. Where vga is truer and darker.
