Shadow Gangs Zero

Hi guys;

Just putting this here for anyone interested in a 16 bits version of Shadow Gangs.
It's targeting the NeoGeo as the lead version, with ports to the Megadrive, Dreamcast and modern machines.
(Each taking advantage of the host computer, no emulation).

It's not just a 16 bits version of Shadow Gangs, but a longer, improved and incorporating feedback and suggestions I got over the years since Shadow Gangs release.
(It's completely redrawn in pixel art with many more frames of animation)
More home version than arcade, not time limit, longer and different levels layouts and settings, more forgiving among the many differences between it and the original.

The Dreamcast version will take advantage of the machine, more colours, rumble support and more.

The demo will be sent to press on the 15th of July, and a demo working on the NeoGeo and emulation will be available with the Kickstarter.

Hi Fafadou;
Yes, look like the NeoGeo is now having a boom in new games :)

I think Shadow Gangs Zero has lots of great things about it, I will incorporate the feedback I got over the years for the original SG, and one of the main thing is the animations frames now are much more numerous for all characters.
Also longer and bigger game it will be, and more home console than arcade.

The game will use also the sound chip of the Neo Geo to it's fullest, most post Neo Geo era used only digitised music, but SGZ will use FM, SSG too.

We'll see...this project wasn't on my plans at all as I was working on Shadow Gangs II, but I had some idle time last year and was really interested by a 16bits version of SG.

This thread hasn't been updated in a while, so I wanted to let everyone know that the Kickstarter campaign for Shadow Gangs Zero has been active for the past several weeks, and there's roughly three weeks left. The great news is that the project became fully funded just a week and a half into the campaign, so the game is a definite go.

At this point, the fan base is hoping to get some stretch goals funded, the first of which is:

Second Playable Character
Introducing Hikaru, the ninja girl! Play as this new character and experience the game from a fresh perspective.

If you haven't backed it yet, please take a look at the webpage and see if you can help out:

Thank you!

I guess it is all done, as a martial artist I would have liked to suggest more correct Ninjutsu positions and powers like dessapearing or ninja weapons . Good luck with the release! Dreamcast never had a ninja game

Are you backing the campaign for Shadow Gangs Zero?

BTW, the developer has stated their intent to work on Shadow Gangs 2 after Shadow Gangs Zero is done. So you have an opportunity to provide input regarding authentic ninja moves and possibly see it implemented in an upcoming Shadow Gangs game.

I backed it for that sweet, sweet PAL case version. I was hesitant at chucking £70 at it but hey-ho!
Having backer's names in the credits swung it a bit too for pure self-indulgence ..

The core campaign ended on September 14, 2024 and was a smashing success. Not only was the project fully funded, but it also surpassed the stretch goal for having the female ninja included as a playable character!

Due to extremely strong demand, the developer has decided to accept Late Pledges for those who missed out during the core campaign. Here's the exciting part... The project is only £6,000 away from reaching the next stretch goal: 2-player co-operative gameplay. This will be a revolutionary feature, as none of the arcade and console Shinobi games had this 2-player simultaneous gameplay.

Dreamcast fans have multiple options to choose from:

- Digital edition.

- Regular disc edition (your choice of US / EU / Japanese variations); includes digital edition.

- PAL Blue Box edition; includes digital edition.

- Collector edition: PAL Blue Box disc + digital edition, and adds several goodies - Collector's box, art book, soundtrack CD.

- Ultra edition: Regular disc + PAL Blue Box disc + digital edition, and adds several goodies - Collector's box, art book, T-shirt, soundtrack CD.
