DreamPi 1.9 DLE not working on Pi 3 Model B+

I recently had to reimage my pi's SD card and had a very difficult time of it. the current download for DreamPi 1.9 DLE did not work (could not boot). Ironically the DreamPi 1.9 DLE (Pi 4 / Zero 2) image did work, even though i have a Pi 3. I am partly posting this to help others, and partly to provide myself a reminder.
