need help choosing a power cord for my SDC

so i live in a small studio apartment that was built in 1944 so electrical outlets are sparse one socket per wall and while i have no issues using surge protector power strips i need to be able to connect my dreamcast to the other side of the wall while finding 8 foot figure 8 cords isnt an issue im not sure how many AWG i need i saw an 18AWG cord but im not sure what that means
